Happy to announce there is a new weekly Coaches Show for Jeff Boals airing on nbc4i.com. Hope you all will check it out. Our digital reporter Justin Holbrock anchors it (OU grad) and should have some cool stuff as we go on. Today was the first one so be patient as we learn what works and doesn’t work. Just happy to have something for Bobcat fans to check out! And talking with Jeff this morning before taping, I know he is happy to get more visibility for the program.

Couple of observations from the early part of the video. I had forgotten that the band was behind the basket and that the benches were flipped. Also, it was interesting to see how many people were actually dressed up for the games.

Long overdue! Excited to check it out ... good to see Ohio branching back out to more than a SE Ohio-only audience.

That was the great part of the Evan Shaw era when he did the behind-the-scenes shows ... it was great publicity statewide (and even regionally on FS Ohio/STO) for the programs and the school.

Really hope it continues with Frank Solich. These are the type of things that can only help with visibility, which in turns helps recruiting ... which helps when taking that step towards a next-level mid-major. Which I think is where this athletic program was headed in 2012 ... but unfortunately things grew kind of stale in terms of promotion.

Glad to see things picking back up. Two thumbs up to the guys at NBC4 for taking this initiative and to Ohio athletics/Jeff Boals (assuming they were a willing and able partner)

The host, Justin Holbrook, is a Bobcat as is traffic reporter Jennifer Bullock (who just brought a future Bobcat into the world). Channel 4 now has almost as many Bobcats on their on-air news team as they have O$Who grads.

Agree on everyone's post. My question is, how visible is this show? Is this a station/website viewers frequent? Or is it something you have to be directed to, like I and other BA posters were by this thread? Will it attract many eyeballs?

Even though interested, I would not have found it without the link. I can't remember the last time I watch the news.

Does anyone know if Coach Boals drives to WCMH on Wednesday morning to record this or is it done in Athens?

To answer some questions...

1. Definitely taped at our studios. Coach Boals is coming to our studios on Wednesdays to tape it
2. Only on the web right now. And likely to stay that way for the near future. I know, not the most ideal but better than anything. Takes Bobcats like me and you to get the word out so people know to check out website to see the latest episodes.
3. We have a lot of Bobcats at our station. And the ones on air make it known where we went to school. So couldn’t be happier to have this be on our air.
4. Again, if you all have any suggestions, post them here or even send me (mbarnes@wcmh.com ) or Justin (jholbrock@wcmh.com ) an email. Would love some more ideas of what fans want to see and hear.
5. No word on a Coach Solich show as of yet but I’ll keep you posted.

First off....great, great job with coming up with the idea and getting Coach Boals to do this. For Boals, to get back from Buffalo late early Wednesday morning and then to drive to Columbus that morning says a lot about how Boals wants to do everything he can to publicize his program...big time respect there.

Just a few suggestions and I don't know if it's possible with class...but can Boals bring a player to be interviewed as well? Or this can be a separate taped segment with you going to down to Athens to shoot it.

Also, would love to see game highlight recaps...doing it live to tape with Boals giving his analysis as well.

Great job guys....glad you care as much as we do about our hoops program.

Wondering if longtime Ch. 4 sports announcer Jimmy Crum is smiling from up above. . .(setting OCF up to regale us with his Jimmy Crum memories).

Not sure when it is taped at WCMH. However remember Jeff has an apartment here in Athens. He and his wife/family own a home in the Columbus area. So I'm sure he is in the Columbus area a couple of times a week.
