I'm not "overlooking" it. I'm just stating how it's way, way "overvalued." It made the regular season virtually meaningless. That said, the new format adds a little more importance back to the regular season, because you will now at least have to qualify for the event, which I like. And let me be clear, I do enjoy and like the MAC Tournament. And I do not want it eliminated. I attend it most every year. My contention with the tournament stems back to it being essentially the only way a MAC Team can get to the NCAA Tournament, unless you have a team like Buffalo last year or Kent State two decades ago. But those type of MAC teams only come around once every 20 years or so.

Hard to argue against your point. I just don't want to see the tournament eliminated.

Wonder how a preseason MAC tournament would go?

Three times in the past ten years, the MAC had a team win the conference tournament from a six seed or worse. The Bobcats won as a #9 seed and Akron and Kent as six seeds. For a one bid league, the MAC should do more to reward the regular season champ. At least thirty percent of the time the past ten years, the league has sent one of its lower seeded schools to the big tourney in March. There is zero reward for playing hard all season and earning a regular season title. Allowing the regular season winner to host a four team tourney would be a start. Just doesn't seem right to send a team to the NCAA tourney that gets hot for three games in early March and basically cancels out, what a worthy team did over the span of 18 games.

Agreed. March Madness is as much about the hottest team as the best team.

Why send an Akron team that we know can win games in February but not March. That's bad for everyone in the MAC.

Assuming we lose no significant players I think we are a top 4 team. Preston, BVP, McDay, Roderick, Miguel, Towns, Foster, Brown and Murrell with Granger, McMurray and White gaining experience as needed is a great group.
