for the rest of the year. I understand from a management standpoint, they don’t want the liability. If everyone got tested, we could find out who is swimming naked, quarantine and treat them and return to normal and it would have absolutely no election implications, but when you hide stuff and have a prideful and clueless leader not deferring to subject matter experts, panic ensues. The reason why universities are closing is because they don’t want the liability and the facts on the ground are changing. They say that the virus can live on surfaces so they are disinfecting everything and the government is ordering close too 100 million masks from 3m, but telling the public masks are ineffective. Italy will be out of the woods in one month, just like China because they are ramping up quarantined and testing. China had 40 new cases yesterday, their numbers have plateaued, so no I am not being sarcastic.

Up until a few years ago, Berea was a real contrast in cultures. On one hand you have the typical liberalism of a liberal arts college (first college in the south to go coed and be racially mixed) while on the other hand, you couldn't get a drink in the Boone Tavern and jackets for men were required at dinner. It's a unique place that has provided the opportunity for a college degree to thousands who might not have otherwise had the chance.

Well let’s see, who agrees with me? Ivy League University’s, the largest university in the US, the numbers from countries that have seen their numbers start to plateau. The medi’s and lackeys, they don’t understand that pandemics can kill people. One in seven American adults could have to be hospitalized, this would effect general healthcare. The biggest problem is that kids and some young adults are asymptomatic so they could infect their parents and grandparents. Pandemics can kill our economy and they can kill our consumer sentiment. This week airlines have cut their capacities, they were hiring, now they are laying people off. Let’s just look at some potential collateral damage. They could cancel their airplane orders which would lead to layoffs at various aerospace companies, (Boeing would probably be most affected). Let’s say that the oil consumption continues to decrease, because people have to stay home. We will have to shut down rigs in the bakken and Permian basin that are not profitable when oil is under $45 per barrel, which will lead to huge layoffs in oil and oil services industry. Let’s say companies that service the oil industry continue to decline, you could see huge commercial loan defaults. I have a uncle who worked at MIT and he might be smartest professor in the world and he has the record for working at MIT so I get this, the experts are surprised by my knowledge, just wash your hands and we will hold back testing until after the election and everything will be ok. The liberals are just too smart for their own good if we have thousands of deaths and a huge recession it will be because people didn’t wash their hands.

Allen, I think you be shocked at the numbers of other things that kill Americans in far larger numbers than the COVID 19 will. Not saying its serious, but while we lament its seriousness, we go on and eat fatty foods (me, gleefully so), drink and smoke, and die of other causes that we have the ability to avoid, die in outrageously large numbers. Heart disease for one.

Numbers are a funny thing. Last week a Harvard medical doctor said the numbers coming out of China have been overblown. While he said the initial numbers of those killed in China due to COVID 19 were indeed alarming, he said that we need to keep their numbers in context. He pointed out that China's population was so large, they average 25,000 deaths A DAY from other causes separate and apart from COVID 19!!

Well yeah, 100% of people die. Of course other things are going to kill people better than Covid 19 does.

What's the threshold? How many deaths do you think warrants this response? I think we're damned if we do, very damned if we don't. So you err on the side of caution. Being wrong and doing nothing's a much worse outcome than being wrong and doing too much, right?
