This board had been slow compared to prior years. People may have their mind on other things and nobody can attend any games. But I have noticed that this especially true of the game threads. There is so little commentary on the game itself for both football and basketball so far. There are comments before and after but not much at all said during the game.

I think some folks here chased all the people who contributed in years past away. That is just an opinion which will probably meet with flames. It's good to see JSF back but what ever happened to Athena and those members?

If anyone missed the game and wants to watch, it's in the On Demand list of the Illini website. Perfect video using NC A&T feed

The chat has been empty when I checked today and yesterday. Maybe more will turn in for Illinois tomorrow

Just finished watching. Gave the Cats a B for the first 8 minutes, a D for the next 12,then an A- for the first 16 minutes of the 2nd half and an incomplete for the last 4 minutes. All in all a decent showing with room to grow.

The last part of the first half was worrisome. We had oodles of problems with their press. I was quite worried at halftime, but in the second half we just seemed to cruise. Was that halftime adjustments by the coaches? Was it greater motivation? Did we just wear NCAT out? Or, some combination of all three combined with other factors? At times in the second half we played lights out. I hope we can bring that second-half game to the Illinois game for both halves!

In talking with some folks in the industry, there is a real concern going forward that people have gotten used to a world without sports as we have known it in the past and that they may not come back. I love golf and watch the majors each year. I didn't even know when the Masters was on this year and watched about an hour on Sunday. With no sports going on as usual in the MAC, I think quite a few people have just drifted away.

Anybody else catch that b&%ch move Harris pulled on Foster at about the 2 minute mark? Foster was guarding the inbound and Harris hit him with the ball in the groin. Next inbound play and Harris acts as if he is going to do the same thing. Weak.

It hasn't been easy to get interested in sports this year. They're not as much fun without fans, bands and everything else. Some people make their comments here through their observations at the game, so when they can't go to the game they're not as interested in commenting. And frankly some people wonder why the MAC even bothered with a six-game football schedule this year, so they've tuned out. Also, the phony crowd noise used on broadcasts and even in some venues cheapens the experience. Because the fans aren't at games, some NFL teams have cameras and big screens set up for players to use in celebrating whatever they want to celebrate. That's about the dumbest damn thing I've ever seen at a pro game. It just reinforces that the game is only about player egos. Yeah, I think some people will drift away. During the MLB strike in 1994 I found other things to do and never went back. But I think that once this damned pandemic is under control (hopefully by next summer) and things start returning to a semblance of normal, people will want somewhere to go and be out among other people. Sports will help fill that need.

With all due respect Victory, I was in the chat, made a couple comments, you joined and contributed zippo. How about starting something?

That really was a cheap shot and I was wondering what that was about. I figured Foster did something previously? Tough to stand back up there and expose yourself the second time but Foster did. I liked that the ref seemed to step in and give Foster a little more time to recover. And did the ref also say something to Harris?

Hmmm, not my experience. I've been hunkered down at home for so long that when sports returned I've been tuned in and thankful for what is available. Personally I watch basketball for the basketball, and the fans, bands and everything else are so secondary that it doesn't matter to me much that they aren't part of the package right now. Watched parts of 4 days of Masters, good golf is good golf with or without fans IMHO. 'Cats first bball games yesterday led me to watch 2012 vs South Florida and UNC back-to-back on youtube I was so pleased to have hoops again.

I had this board and the chat room open in the same browser that I was using to stream the game and pretty much forgot that I had the chat open. So, I'm sorry about that. Anyway, I wasn't calling anyone out or anything. That would be hypocritical. I doubt that I was among the 25 or so most frequent posters when the board had more traffic. I was just lamenting that we seem to have lost posters like, for example, L.C., who did post frequently and often had something well informed and/or well thought out to say.

I suppose I need to also apologize for getting this thread well off topic.

Chat was more active today, thanks for encouraging us Victory. Last year somebody started a chat for games in another platform, but I don't remember what it was and have no idea if people are going there this year.

It was good to be among friends today in Chat. Very Nice. I think there were folks in the Discord chat as my phone had notifications.
