Level 1:
Stony Brook coach Geno Ford just went from having a team that would have contended for the the America East title to one that lost its top three players:
TRANSFERRING:
Elijah Olaniyi (18.0 ppg)
Makale Foreman (15.6 ppg)
Andrew Garcia (13.4 ppg)
Watching this year's transfer circus has been disappointing.
Hate what has happened to college athletics with this rule. The NCAA has created a monster.
They created it with greed. They could have avoided it years ago by allowing this "likeness" agreement to be handled without attorneys being involved, and not allowing football realignment to wreck the rest of college sports.
On top of that, they could have, and should have made a common sense approach to transfers, eliminating petitions for exceptions that don't have something to do with injury or family hardship. They could have been smarter about this Grad Transfer rule, and made those players sit out a year too -- because it was supposed to be about that graduate degree, right? And, they could have made a "one time" no sit out transfer for freshmen and sophomores that for whatever reason, weren't happy where they were, and make everyone else sit a year -- coach changes, and injury/family hardships aside.
Second only to US Congress, the NCAA and how they manage things is the biggest joke in the US of A. And in each case, it's all because of greed.
