He reportedly has interviewed for the ETSU job. Tells me he knows the administration is going to decimate the athletic department.

From the Cleveland.com article:

Miller has also directed UA’s athletic director to develop a plan for a 20% reduction in athletic expenses for next year. In addition, all non-academic administrative divisions are expected to reduce their expenses by 20%.

Miller cited “considerable uncertainty about the future of mid-major Division I athletics,” and said “additional reorganization and reduction may be necessary” in the area of athletics.

Interesting. If he were to leave this summer, would be 4 programs in 9 years.

We've had 4 head coaches in those same 9 years.

Feels different for an individual rather than an organization.

Under normal circumstances yes. But this isn't normal. The first three stops are pretty standard progression for a college basketball coach and if things had stayed the same I seriously doubt he'd be looking anywhere but up. Not sure I can recall a college basketball program downgrading itself so substantially (if it comes to pass).

Groce won a regular season outright title at Akron this past season. Something that hasn't happened in Athens since Larry Hunter was coaching. He didn't achieve this when he was at Ohio. I still think the regular season champ in the MAC is not given enough credit. They played an 18 game conference schedule and had a 2 game lead on BG and 3 or more plus on everyone else. The Zips were the best team in the MAC this season and probably over the past 15 seasons have been the top team in the league.

I agree completely. The regular season champ never gets enough respect unless they win in Cleveland. I understand the conference tournament “everybody has a chance” deal, but I also feel like not enough is guaranteed for the regular season winner that proved for 18 games they were the best in the league. Teams get hot in March, teams go cold. Not enough respect goes to the team that consistently won week in and week out Jan-Mar.

You are absolutely correct 100%Cat. "Not enough is guaranteed for the regular season winner." Why play the 18 game regular season, if they aren't rewarded? For years, the MAC has been a one bid league anyway. It may be better to play less league games and go get paid to play Duke, UNC, Kentucky or Louisville? With the current budget situation that may not be a bad idea.

How long until Pitino gets a show-cause and Iona has to cut ties?

Asking for a guy who blocked me on Twitter.
