JP is #48 in the 60 players included in this early early 2021 ESPN NBA Mock Draft:

FWIW, they have him going to the Pacers.

Good for him. He's got the athleticism and size to hang at that level. If his actual shooting ability is last year, and not his Freshman year (and not something in between) he'll get a look for sure.

It all comes down to his outside shooting. If he continues to elevate that part of his game this season, this may become a reality. Until then, I am not so sure a team would spend a pick on him. Honestly not unlike DJ Cooper.

I think these boards tend to just rank the best players available, but aren't really prognosticating on whether somebody would enter the draft.

Agreed, and Preston seems very keen on getting his degree, and is not a likely candidate to enter the draft early, unless circumstances drastically change, according to what I've heard.

If he blows up and is a projected lottery pick, wave goodbye.

If Presto turns out to be a lottery pick, it means Ohio had an incredible season. I’m good with that. A fella needs to make a livin’ for Pete’s sake!!

31 points, 8 assists, 0 turnovers, 6 rebounds against Illinois might make him top 30. Wow what a gem.

Rashad Phillips would know, he was a tough mid major guard.

I got to thinking about how young we were in 2012 and the fact that the team got too good too soon was part of the reason why we never saw that team to its full potential in 2013.

Most of this team will be back next year even if it were not for that extra year of eligibility. Then I though that because of that many teams will still be mostly in tact next year and we might not be as dominate in the MAC as we otherwise might have been. We might need to keep Boals here until 2022-23 to see this team at full potential and see guys like BVP choose to go to grad school. But even at that, if Preston still only has a 2nd round grade, if he has his degree then you would expect him to take whatever chance he has at the NBA.

This is maybe a crazy selfish line of thinking, so I'm going to try to stop thinking about it and enjoy whatever success in amateur athletics that we might have and, of course, wish these kids all the success in life in whatever they choose to do, but I doubt that we'll ever see this group at what could have been its potential best.

Been a while since the last time I've posted, but I have to say this isn't true at all. Unless you mean they got too good too soon and that wound up getting Groce a bigger job.

The team never reached it's full potential because Groce went to Illinois and the team kind of crumbled in the wake. We were returning everyone from the Elite 8 team and adding Caris LeVert. Groce goes to Illinois, LeVert is let out of his LOI and goes to Michigan, starts some games as a freshman, and eventually becomes the 20th pick in the NBA draft.

Perhaps the biggest "what if" in the history of Bobcat basketball. What does that 2013 team become if Groce stays another season and we add a future NBA player to the roster?

If Preston is a second round pick and comes out...nobody can blame the kid. However, another year with this loaded team could very well push Preston into lottery discussion in 2022. Hell, maybe he can be a lottery pick in 2021...don't know.

I just get the feeling that Preston loves the college experience and he didn't get to experience March last year and who knows what March will look like in 2021. Stay another year....get stronger...improve that outside shot...take this team on an incredible journey in a normal March Madness 2022...and this kid makes more money in 2022. But then again there are no guarantees and it only takes one injury.

Bottom line...enjoy what we are watching now and don't take it for granted. Dude is going to have his number 0 hanging from the rafters one day. We are lucky to have him.

I'd question him for declaring as a projected second round pick. Might not get drafted at all, or in the second round, you might not get a guaranteed contract. Second round picks aren't given too many chances to prove themselves. If second round is his ceiling this year, that's tough.

Tune into ESPN2 following the UNC/UNLV game tonight. I think Jay is going to get a feature story.

Just watched it. Lots of love from the announcers and this was right after an earlier segment extolling Illinois and the Big 10. Preston's game highlights was shown and then a good interview with Preston. Hopefully someone can post a link.

How on earth was his one arm put-back dunk not on that highlight reel?

Great interview. Thanks for posting. Really enjoy watching this young man both on the court and in interviews like this. He's an excellent ambassador for OHIO!

There's been two players in the last decade to go in the lottery and be 23 when their rookie year starts.
