This needs to be a "get right" game for the Cats.

Bobcats need to be competitive and actually beat some of the top teams in the MAC to gain some confidence.

They beat Akron with only 6 points from Zool?

They must be improving with the new coach.

Akron shot 31% for the game and 43% at the line to help them out.

Hopefully the team gets to do a little sightseeing around Dekalb before coming home.

Maybe they can play an intrasquad scrimmage at the NIU Convocation Center.

I realize that programs need to do the right thing and not try to force players to play if they test positive, but I'd favor having a team forfeit if they postpone a game on the day of the game, especially after their opponent has gone to all the expense of flying in. At least make them pay their opponent's expenses.

Not really. It seems like there are a lot of coaches and players who aren't taking covid seriously.

So we should have forfeited our football game with Buffalo by your thinking.

Maybe. At least they weren't all the way to Athens before the game was cancelled. I understand they weren't even halfway here. At least pay their expenses. How many thousands did we shell out for a useless plane trip to Dekalb, and maybe with another trip there next month for the make-up game? With budgets as tight as they are, taking a hit like that really hurts. If a day-of-game cancellation had to be forfeited maybe players and coaches would be more careful about following protocols.

In the last five days over 60 NCAA basketball games have been scratched. More will continue to get called because of Covid. No conference should expect to play a full compliment of league games in this crazy season. The NCAA plans to hold the tournament in late March. What are the odds March Madness gets disrupted at least one time?
