I was thinking back to when we had our last "bad" game. Counting last season, I think it goes back about 12 or 13 games. Teams are going to have a few less than optimal games along the way.

We will learn from this, break down video, and we will be fine.

The fickleness of this fan base is amazing. You realize there has only been one NCAA DI team go the year undefeated? And none of them were MAC teams! Your expectations are only outmatched by your delusions of grander. SAD
??????

It's a message board. We comment on good games and bad games. Nobody said this team was going undefeated and ripping down the nets in Indianapolis. And if you think 9 posts from Ohio fans breaking down why we were so awful against Marshall is delusional.....I would then suggest checking out Duke's message board right now. Then after that head on over to Kentucky's board.

You guys all realize there's an in-game BA chat feature, right? ^^^
I believe there's a secret "cool guys" chat room where Borna eats bonbons while JSF and a few others genuflect before him.

I didn't expect a win in Huntington. Kill me for that statement if you wish, just being realistic. When was the last time we won down there? I don't expect to win tough road games. I expect to beat cream puffs at home, but I don't ever expect tough road W's. I look at them as bonuses. This Marshall game would have been a nice W on the belt, but not getting it isn't soul-crushing to me, either.

As someone else said, watch the tape and learn from it, and keep moving forward. Use the lessons learned to win conference games in a few weeks.

Listened but didn't watch. Disappointing but not concerning. Our 2 studs Preston & BVP didn't play well, and we still somewhat hung in there. Wilson was incredible. He is AVERAGING 16 & 10 with just 26 minutes per game.

You have to feel really good about Preston, BVP, Wilson, Brown & McDay right now. Hopefully Roderick gets healthy and becomes the goto outside shooter and some of the other guys pitch in for depth...but we have some serious playmakers.

MAC play one week from today...can't wait. Huge game and tough test right off the bat.

I have been in the JSF created Discord room but I have never seen anyone besides Pete and a couple of others in there. I missed any genuflecting and I forgot to kiss the ring of the room creator.

All I could think of when I read the secret cool guys response. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9JDPm_QHk4

I hate to say this, but we didn't want it as much as they did.

You mean it did not have anything to do with the fact that they were a higher ranked team and Pomeroy had them favored going into the contest? It was not because they had better players or that they were at home? It was just a matter of more want? Good to know.

Newark grad JT Shumate, playing his first game at UT after playing 2 seasons at Walsh, went for 12 pts and 8 reb. As my son's youth basketball coach for 3 seasons while JT was playing for the high school varsity team I would tell my players to watch JT's shooting form. All of the players in the youth league had a weekly clinic at the high school with varsity players leading a station with the younger players rotating to each station. I urged my players to pay close attention at Shumate's station where he had them working on their shooting form.

He has one of the purest shooting forms you'll see and I look forward to seeing how he does now that he moved up to the MAC (I heard he wanted to come to Athens before ending up at Toledo).

Coach Quack's attention to the youth program is what is going to keep Newark very good for the near future. I wish we had the same thing down the road.

Down the road?

The boys and girls basketball programs are the pride of Newark athletics (the girls were in the state final 4 before the pandemic put an end to h.s. sports). Both have a great feeder program that has sustained many years of success. Many of the locals would like to see Newark leave the OCC (they are dominated in just about every sport) and join the smaller Licking County League. Coach Quackenbush is also the AD and rumor has it that he opposes this move because he enjoys the challenging competition his basketball teams face in the OCC. I can see the argument both ways.

I love those guys. Anyone anywhere anytime. Always have to get competition during the year if you expect to be ready for the tourney.

Sorry, down the road was meant to be geographic, not time. I am a big fan of what coach Quack is doing in Newark.

Maybe it was mentioned somewhere and I missed it, but has anyone noticed how CUSA did their league scheduling? They play essentially back-to-back at one home gym, either a day or two apart. So Marshall just went to La Tech, lost game 1 and won game 2 the next day. It's an interesting way to condense their travel and get their league games in.

I believe the Horizon and a few others are doing this.
