Not a shot clock malfunction. Nice try though.
?

There was a delay early in the game and the shot clock was off.
He seems to be personally offended by your observation. Hmm, wonder why?

I saw Cleveland State's game vs Toledo. While Toledo pulled out the win, Cleveland State outplayed them for much of the game. The Vikings have brought in a nationally ranked recruiting class. They are much improved. The Cats will really have to come to play Sunday. They have guys who can really fill it up from three.
Yow.
My account was hacked. That was from Fake Jeff.
Hahaha. I thought of you and this post a lot while watching yesterday's game.

Haven't seen any breakdown of the actual game other than picking our jaws up off the floor so I'll start. It was nice to get a chance for more minutes from the far end of the bench. You know it is a good day when a healthy Jason Preston only logs 24 minutes. When you have that much junk time in a game, it can be really telling for who will probably not be in the rotation come crunch time...with that in mind, it doesn't look great for Nolan Foster (2 mins) unless he had an injury or something going on. Miguel, Towns & Brown appear to be the 3 bench players solidly in the rotation.

Scariest part is we didn't shoot great from 3 or from the FT line. When the run was at 40-0, we missed 4 straight free throws so it could have easily been 44-0. Then the first 5 points they score were all free throws. The level of dominance in just ball control and finding quality shots vs preventing quality shots was startling.

Wilson had 18 points and 14 rebounds in 19 minutes...Damn!

Lunden took a break from his "quietly effective" role to take charge. 7 for 10 from the field including 3 for 5. If we see more of that to go with Preston/BVP/Roderick/Wilson and their scoring ability, look out.

Good for Sears to get the experience at PG while Preston rested. Some growing pains with 6 turnovers but 4 assists and a few nice buckets.

Don't screw up this season, Covid.

Watching the game I was thinking he looked a lot like Miles Brown did last year.

Not at all, have nothing to do with the shot clock. Just wish if you criticized, you would criticize the proper thing. Guess, getting facts wrong is the new thing these days.

Stated by the announcers during the game that that was cause of the delay. I guess since I wasn't there I would listen to them as to what the problem was.

GUYS GUYS, it's of utmost importance we get this right. Marty Bannister said at the 13:50 mark of the ESPN3 broadcast AND I QUOTE, "We are in a bit of a delay - the shot clocks have gone dark." I was sitting in my living room in suburban Cincinnati and I only had Marty to trust. Maybe Russ said something different? Are you saying Marty lied to me? Cancel Marty Bannister, I say.

Shab, it was irresponsible of you to pass judgment before a full and complete investigation was conducted. Just think of all the lives you have hurt with your reckless snap judgment.

I guess I never realized that announcers 150' away always knew everything. My sincere apologies

. . . or that the listening audience, from the comforts of their own home, should know better than the announcer what the real cause for the delay is.

It was my understanding the final score was 101 - 46. At least that is what I heard at the end of the broadcast. But it sounds like there may be reason to doubt the authenticity of what was reported. Perhaps a player or coach - an actual participant can verify.

Thanks for giving me some cover with this "clock controversy".

Just to kind of defend Fake Jeff here....Coach Boals was also talking up their recruiting class pregame. And the line was only 11, meaning that the line would have been only 6 or 7 on a neutral court. Just sayin'..... : )

Simple fact: the power was out at the full scorer table. Yep.......and I was there .....and it would have affected the shot clock/game clock/replay clock/etc.

Maybe we should give our team props for hanging 40-0 run on a D1 team?
I hope CSU finds its mojo and proves to be a better team as the season progresses. They were up at Toledo until late in the game. Maybe this Ohio team is just that good.

I saw white vans unloading points at the rear of the Convo.

Video of SBH typing the above post would show black droplets of sweat running down his face. And I think the audio picked up some flatulence.

The best comedic writers in the country can't write better content/dialogue than what the former NYC mayor referenced above is providing us on an almost weekly basis. How can anyone take him seriously?

All the power on the floor went out
For the record. Those of us in the viewing audience were told the shot clocks were out as they cut away to a pic of the dark shot clocks. Thanks for your speedy response.

Does anyone know if the 40-0 run/record got any notice on Sportscenter? Or anywhere on ESPN?

As I said on the last page, it did. It got a pretty extensive, I'd say about 1:30 game highlight on the afternoon SC followed by another extensive segment on Preston briefly mentioning his rise from his background and then an analysis of his NBA stock. It had a slightly shorter highlight during the night SC with no segment on Preston.
