Been a lot of talk.

Is he eligible?

Is he not eligible?

Judging from the Boals and BVP interviews...he's playing.

Has there anything been put out by the university that he's officially eligible this year?

According to the list tracked by Jeff Goodman, his waiver is pending: https://watchstadium.com/college-basketball-transfer-waiv... /

Very few waivers are getting turned down. Only seven on the list, including Nike Sibande from Miami to Pitt. Teyvion Kirk's waiver at UIC was approved.

If the speculation is true and Dwight Wilson can play, the Bobcats could be very good this year. Assuming they get to play and COVID doesn't shut everything down, they should have depth at all positions. If one or two of the young players make the same jump that Preston and Vander Plas made between their first and second year, they will be very hard to beat.

Please note the word "if" is prominent above.

If the waiver is still pending next week does Wilson play? I believe Memphis, in a similar situation, played Wiseman the first few games last year while waiting an NCAA decision.

A.J. Clayton our Philo recruite reclassified and is going to graduate by January to start early at OU and be eligible for the 2021-22 season. If everyone that is currently on roster stays then that would be the 13 scholarships taken up, meaning Clayton has no schollie for 2021-22. That leads me to believe that Wilson will be eligible, which is waaay better news than I thought which is that BVP or Preston have already told Boals they are looking elsewhere for their final year of eligibility. Wilson on this squad already is an upgrade over Vest (who did a great job by the way) and to add Miguel as depth. Whoa boy!

If you're Wilson, or any player in a similar situation, and you only have one year of eligibility remaining, why do you want to push to be eligible in a COVID plagued season?

Um, no disrespect intended, but do/did you play? Don't you think these guys want to compete, now? At OUr level I think these guys aren't making decisions based on draft/pro potential, they're ballers and they want to play. Right? What baller wants to sit?

Hasn't the NCAA ruled that playing this season will not count toward your eligibility? For all players?

Correct. This season doesn't count against eligibility, so might as well play if you can.

i would also think if your not going to be a pro sooner or later it will be time to join the real world if your college work will be done.

Right, most players won't use an extra year of eligibility. They still have to maintain necessary classes to do so. But there will be some guys who can make use of an extra year of education and also play more basketball.

Yea - no one would want to stick around Athens for an extra year just to play basketball and have a good time. Especially when you could try to get a job in the middle of a pandemic economy.

Wait, so if he's eligible this year, he could play next year also?

I was thinking in terms of only having one year of eligibility remaining, is this the year you'd want to burn it? But if there are different rules this year only, that's a different story.

If dude is getting his masters then he would probably not want to hang around 2 years.

So he's gonna wear #4 and now I'm wondering if he'll be a starter alongside BVP on the front line.

If so, the last time we had a #0, #3, #4 and #5 in the starting lineup great things happened. :)

Wouldn't be shocked if he starts the year coming off the bench since I'm guessing he hasn't been practicing much with the starting five.

I have a feeling they knew this could happen so I would be shocked if he doesn't start. Although Miguel starting with D-Dub3 off the bench would be just fine. We lose Vest and his 6 and 6. I anticipate Rifen and Dwight going at least 15 and 12 combined.

That's a backhanded remark about Vest, who came in here last year and did what he was supposed to do. Remember, those 6-6 numbers don't include his defensive presence. Boals really liked him.
