According to Nebraska fan-site Big Red Today (Omaha.com), TK is high on the Cornhusker's wish list and additionally has had contact with UNLV, Ole Miss, Temple, Butler, and others. Link is below:

Have to admit that, if correct, I was way off on what I assumed the level of interest would be. Impressed by the quality and quantity of potential opportunities
Don't see how he's ready for any of the programs listed here. I hope TK's next coaching staff can fix his shooting motion and improve his release point over the next year. There was zero development in this area over his first two years in Athens. Good luck TK and improve that Assist/TO ratio.

I agree. I'm shocked at the level of schools listed in this report. Whoever gets him might want to consider redshirting him just to work on his shot.
I am not shocked. TK showed as a freshman that he could play restrained yet aggressive. The fact that he was so helter skelter as a soph shows me that Saul lost control of his program from the jump in 2018. Block regressed..Doug did not improve...Carter looked scared...all adds up to Saul. TK will excel with the right program.
We will see what he does there, Nebraska has a lot of opening so they could use a transfer, but he was not all MAC and he was not efficient at all, maybe they feel like they can coach him a little better than Saul. TK does not do anything great but he has s lot of heart.

Have the schools mentioned watched him play? Those are nice schools and I wish Teyvion the best of luck..but I figured he would go to a smaller D1 program

This can't be true. It just can't. Did they look at his stats???

I don't want to pretend I understand how the transfer portal works, but I'm going to take a swag based on the little information I do have. I have a friend who is transferring in another sport--leaving from an obscure DII/D3 school. Within 24 hours of going on the portal, she had nearly a dozen inquiries from DI schools, including many offering visits. My hunch is that needy programs take a quick look at stats, recruiting services, youtube, etc... and take a flyer on a bunch of kids to see where they get a bite. After they see who responds as being interested, then they may do more research.
Though I 've never done it personally, it sounds like a dating service where I have friends tell me they send the same message to a dozen people and inevitably at least one bites.
My guess is that TK getting a reply email may/may not be a scholarship offer?

You can't teach Kirk's athleticism and size. Doesn't surprise me at all that a bunch of programs at all levels would be open to taking a flier on him; it's no different than how athletic guards/wings in the NBA can make a hundred million dollars in their careers despite never really putting it together. Coaches are always willing to convince themselves that they'll be the one that enables super athletic, erratic guys to put it all together.

TK is not super athletic, he is actually average to above average in that category. He won’t outrun or out-jump you, but he has a lot of heart and he is versatile, his release and efficiency is awful so a three-year marriage may not be the wisest thing for a high-major unless you believe you can develop him. I believe he is 6’4” and that is not particularly tall for a 2 or 3 so his size does not necessarily put him in an elite category. We will see where he lands.

Simmons enters the portal and moves up, BA talks about he’s betrayed OHIO Athletics and he’s not ready or capable for big time programs, he will just be a little fish in a BIG pond. TK enters the portal and its look how great he is and in demand he is by all these bi programs, what a talent. If some of you could objectively go back and look at how your sound 🤦🏼‍♂️

Amazing revisionist history here. When Simmons left for Michigan many thought at first that he would be their starting PG, or at the very least a key part of their rotation. It wasn't until he got beat out by Zavier Simpson and ended up clogging the bench that people pointed out that he was in fact a little fish in a big pond.

Also, surely you see the difference between a guy leaving coming off of a one possession loss in the MAC semi finals vs a guy leaving coming off of an 11th place finish in conference and seeing his coach get fired.

Just went looking for my quotes on this one. When Simmons transferred, I was overconfident in his abilities where I said he would go into the Big Ten and wreck havoc on them. In fact, think I said he'd make All-Big Ten. Swing and a miss on that analysis.

If someone is looking at Kirk, remember they're gonna talk to Saul and Co. first before taking him. And from my discussions with that staff, there won't be a ton of nice words to say about Kirk.

Well if that's the case Buckeye to Bobcat, Coach Boals may be assisting in getting him out to another school. Does anyone know if there have been any detailed discussions between Coach Phillips and Coach Boals? While every coach wants to win, no new coach wants to deal with unnecessary problems. Coach Boals has probably got every eventuality covered as best he can at this point in the recruiting season.

Classic message board fodder where you vaguely take some comments from an unnamed group of posters and then juxtapose them with other comments from another unnamed group of posters and act like they contradict each other.

You guys are hilarious. Go back and read the old thread, there are people who criticized his move on the basis that it would not work out. Sorry, unlike some of you I try and refrain from calling certain folks out. But if some of you contend that no one on this board criticized the move by Simmons because he would not have the same success he did at OHIO, then you are practicing revisionist history. Take the time and do your research, you will find it.

The below link is to Jeff Goodman article. He rates Kirk as the 29th best available transfer that will have to sit a year (Carter is rated #13 of those that can play right away). The interesting thing is the "Scout's take". It is obviously someone that saw Kirk play because it is right on.

Yes...they nailed it: "Can’t shoot 3s or free throws and he is a poor decision maker with a bad assist-to-turnover rate."

Hope he can improve these categories at his next stop. Good luck TK.

all accounts I've read paint TK as a nice kid. I'll root for him to have success elsewhere. same with JC.

only bobcat transferrees I won't root for are those who have behavior issues. good riddance. oh and those that pull a Grunkemeyer

Lost in the all of this debate about Kirk is that he will see a significant upgrade in coaching at his next destination. Couple that with a red shirt year and we could see a drastically different player in 2020-2021.

I agree, he could go to a JUCO next year and with good coaching would probably get an offer from Duke, UK, Kansa or similar. Just freak athlete and raw talent. Way under appreciated here for all that he did.

I was thinking a year at a JUCO and then an NBA lottery pick next summer.
