It is becoming increasingly likely Preston will play his Senior Season...it just becomes a question of in what uniform.
He’s not going anywhere
Agreed 100%. If his goal is to get to the NBA he can do it from the confines of the Convo and playing in the MAC.
Just like NBA MAC alumni guards like... hmm... wait, hold on...
Oh I don’t know. Maybe Dave Jamerson, Hal Greer, Butch Komives, Antonio Daniels, Dan Majerle, Earl Boykins, George Gervin, Ron Harper, Bonzi Wells.
Those are all 25+ years ago!

Point taken that none of these are current or real recent. However, the comment I responded to did not specifically mention current MAC alumni NBA players, or recent ones for that matter, so I threw out some names of former MAC players who were considered guards or a combo guard/forward, who played in the league.

Regarding your point (and excluding Jamerson, Greer, Komives and Gervin...yeah they were way back there), Daniels was drafted in 97 and played through 2011; Boykins played from 98 through 2012; Bonzi played 98-2008. Harper and Majerle left the NBA in 01 and 02 respectively. The latter two signed over 25 years ago but they both were playing into the 2000s. The other three guys did not sign 25+ years ago and obviously played well into that time frame. Others I didn’t mention were Szczerbiak (99-09), Dial (98-04), Newble (00-08), Slay (02-05), and McLeod (03-07).

It was a trap, admittedly.

You're just too clever for this board, JSF.

Jason Preston has to be one of the most likeable young men we've ever had in this program? He and Jordy have been such a breath of fresh air the past few seasons in terms of seeing young men who just love OUr university and love OUr program. I thought Saul was a nice dude and while I question his coaching ability at the D-1 MAC level (notice I didn't question his Wisconsin/Minnesota/Montana coaching acumen) he certainly needs TOTAL thanks for bringing in BVP and Jay Preston and also Lundo. I hope and pray that the first two stay on next year and Wilson enjoys campus also. Can you imagine this team all back? Wow.

We will be better if they all return, no doubt. But the same can be said for every team, no?

The problem is that MAC coaches haven't been recruiting NBA-like players for the past 20 years.
This is true - the question is why?
Is it the coaches not recruiting/signing them?
Or were those players coached into being NBA level - and that is not happening (and if not why not)?
Is it the players opting for lower level power conference teams, rather than MAC teams? (and what's the benefit of that?)
Are their other reasons?

If JP is 1st team all-MAC . . . who gets left off among the following: LCJ, Justin Turner, Marreon Jackson, Jeneethan Williams, Danny Pippen? Those 5, plus JP, are my top 6 and some might not give JP a consideration due to lack of conference games played.

Watching the Fiami Kron game last night I was listening to the repartee about LCJ and Lairy being first team PGs with no mention of other MAC players. I wondered how the shut down will affect the voting and players that make the teams. Who will rise and who will drop.

Can you be MAC POY if no one is looking? Can you be MAC POY if you are not a first team pick? Rhetorical questions of course.

The two Jackson’s, Pippen and Turner I see as pretty much locked into first team right now. I’m curious as to how Nuga is handled. He was having a heck of a season before the season ending injury.

If I had a vote, I’d vote whomever I feel are the best players. So right now, I'd go:

First Team - Loren Christian Jackson, Marreon Jackson, Jason Preston, Danny Pippen, and Justin Turner.

Second Team - Jeenathan Williams, Travon Broadway, Michael Nuga, Spencer Littleson, and... Mballa... or Ish El-Amin or Meikkel Murray or maybe Dwight Wilson or DaeDae Grant... lots of players in the running.

Freshman Team - Ryan Rollins (UT), Mark Sears (Ohio), Kaden Metheny (BG), Malik Muhammad (CMU), Josiah Fulcher (BG)

POY: Pippen - 22 and 10 in conference is impressive.
FOY: Rollins
DPOY: Freeman from Akron maybe? This one is a total guess
