It's certainly possible, given this potential COVID scenario via MHT:

"If Ohio withdraws after Tuesday at 11 AM, the bracket would stay the same and their first round opponent would advance automatically."

Kent sat both of their starting bigs ... counting the already injured Nuga, that's 3/5 of their starting lineup. SERIOUSLY DOUBT this was a thrown game by Kent to get to the Bobcats.

Something else must be afoot.

You think they'd rather play Ohio/Toledo than Miami/Akron? That seems unlikely.

Yeah...I do. There is a good chance that Ohio is down 2..maybe 3 players. Heck, at this point, we don't even know if Ohio is playing. Kent State could get a forfeit and a freebie into the semis. Why would this not be in their head?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I wouldn't be surprised. According to Kent's student press, Pippen sat to rest some injuries. (Other press reports just say "coach's decision" or Pippen was "unavailable.") But Kent hadn't played in a week and Pippen played 30, 28 and 34 minutes in the previous three games. He almost had a triple-double vs EMU two weeks ago and had 15 pts & 10 rebs vs Fiami last week. No mention of any injuries in the write-up on the Fiami game. So unless it was something that came up in practice this week any injuries he might have didn't seem to hamper him much lately.

So if I understand this........we have gone from “ the team nobody wants to play”, to the team that “everyone wants to play”?

No. We're the team everyone wants to be seeded against because we're a possible forfeit.

Pataskala......I'm with ya on all of this. Not sure why people don't think Sendy isn't thinking this as well. And even if we do play, it certainly is looking like we are short-handed.

Get off the conspiracy train people ....

Bobcats have issues w/available personnel. That is no secret. Kent seems to have issues. Sitting Pippen just for a 'maybe' against the Bobcats vs. getting playing for the No. 2 seed doesn't make sense. If you watched the game, Kent put up a fight w/o Pippen and Hamilton. Could have made a big difference with them.

No. 2 seed would have gotten them a game w/Miami, a team they swept with and w/out Nuga (a third starter out). Plus put them in a bracket away from Toledo until the final. With a week off before the UB game, and a week off after, Pippen's knees should not have been a concern to sit out.

Then not to play the 6-11 Hamilton, too???

I don't think any of this has anything to do with playing the Bobcats ....

And if we're short handed it's our own fault. If other teams can field a full roster and we can't then we need to look as to WHY we're failing.
