5th seed. If Buffalo wins we play Kent, if they lose we play Buffalo.

Brutal. Both teams' strengths play into our weaknesses.

Arkley tweeted that Ohio tested again this morning, and that following that Boals stated there were no new positive results of that testing.

Arkley also made mention that teams will undergo daily testing leading into the MAC tournament (Sun-Wed).

That sucks. Would rather play Akron. Maybe the Buffalo/Kent game will get canceled too and current standings remain the same?

Unless something has changed with OU's protocols, anyone who tested positive (one player) or is in contact tracing (1-2 others?) would still be in the 10-day quarantine period when the MAC quarterfinals are played. Right?

I don't see this team beating anyone if it hasn't played in 11 days and 2-3 players are out. (Please, let them be walk-ons...)

I obviously want to win the MAC Tournament every year but if there is a silver lining could it be a tone of "Unfinished Business" that drives EVERYONE to stay at OU next year? DW3? JP? BVP?

I think Boals said in the coaches show the other night that BVP got his Bachelors in 3 years, a Masters this year and will get another Masters next year. At Ohio I presume.

Just have to shake my head at some of the posts on this thread. So you're hoping walkons were the ones in the protocol?

Wake up and realize this is an aberrant season, and that public health is what matters most....not hoping that certain individuals or teams experience misfortune so that Ohio somehow can win in Cleveland.

The interesting part of the MAC's announcement about tonight's cancellations is that they were blamed on covid "concerns." Usually they specify which team(s) have issues. Just an abundance of caution?

We will probably never be told know who or what event caused this outrbeak amongst the Bobcat basketball team. I heard it on pretty good authority that the reason the Ohio State football team had to cancel games in the fall concerned back up players going to parties trying to meet co-eds. I have no idea if this is what caused our current situation. It is interesting to note that some teams have never had a positive test in the fall or winter, including the entire Northwestern football team.

It is probably too late for Caoch Boals to put the team in a bubble, it is just sad that it had to come down to this. This time next year, it will hopefully be just an unpleasant memory with a full compliment of the current team available for a big tournament run in 2022. The optimist in me is still holding out hope for a 2021 tournament run, but at this point who knows.

While I get the matchup thoughts, we've been down this road a few times in the past. It doesn't matter who we play and pontificating over it, at least to me doesn't matter. Especially in the 2020-21 season under the current circumstances. Maybe I'm alone in this approach, but honestly, every game they play that I get to watch and cheer them on is a good day for me. Who they play doesn't matter all that much.

That was my post, Jeff. If this needs explanation:

The damage is done. Somebody has COVID. And one or two others are in the contact-tracing protocol, meaning they either have it or don't, but need to be quarantined regardless.

I shouldn't have to state publicly that I'd prefer the latter folks don't have COVID because I don't want ANYONE to catch this virus. But whether they do or don't, it sounds like they'll miss the quarterfinal because of university rules, as will the player with the positive test.

So at this point, why not hope it's non-starters? I don't wish misfortune on anyone... but since the misfortune has already happened, I hope for the least amount of disruption for a group that has been working ever since last March to get this opportunity in the MAC tourney.

We could have the first D1 player ever to earn tenure at this rate.

Seriously, good for him. That’s awesome.

He will have eligibility in 2022/23 if he wants it.
