There were a couple of minutes last night when Ohio had 3 point guards on the floor at the same time - JP, Sears and Miles B.

BVP is a good post player and a very good passer out of the post. Would love to see him there more.

Boals was asked in the postgame radio spot if Preston's presence makes the rest of the players move the ball well. Nothing against Sears, he's been tremendous, but it does at least feel that way.

Amazing what one player can do for a basketball team. We looked completely energized on both ends of the floor.

Agreed but having a 7 man rotation rather than 6 helps too.

Ball movement for dayyysss. We kept making that one extra pass to create the open look.

The team has some experimenting and adjusting to do in practice. If they get it right it could get even better than what we saw last night. What I'd like to see as an uneducated idiot fan - Play more of Sears & Preston at the same time and slide BVP inside the arc more. BVP & Wilson inside + Sears & Preston up top = Roderick + McDay wide open on the wings. Lots of offensive weapons.

Defensively (again insert idiot fan disclaimer)...it almost feels like we do help defense a little too aggressively. It just seems like guys are bouncing off their guys and back more than I typically notice, often times when the help isn't really needed. Perhaps it works OK against a Miami but becomes problematic against more skilled guards like we saw in our 3 MAC losses?

Defense is where I wonder how dominant this team could be with a Senior Jason Carter on it. Regardless, I am supremely confident in the offense. I'm hopeful the defense will improve, and that will ultimately determine how far this team can go.

Sickest play I have seen all year.

Preston dribbling left to right actoss the FT line drops a behind the back pass to the cutter coming from the right down under the bucket. Instead of taking a challenged shot under the bucket the cutter flips the ball to the corner. Boom!!! Trey ball drops.

Yes that was beautiful. I’ve forgotten now the rest of the cast, but was it Preston to BVP to McDay? As I said in an earlier post, I’ve been waiting for this team to “jell.” That sequence of events may have signaled that magic moment! I wish I could have been there in the Convo to see that one in person.

Thanks. Now that you say that, I remember that that was correct, and I like the ring of “Preston to Roderick to McDay” so much that I thought it worth plagiarizing into a poem, written from the perspective of a Miami student reporter:

These are the saddest of possible words:
"Preston to Roderick to McDay."
Trio of bobcat cubs, and fleeter than birds,
Preston to Roderick to McDay.
Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble,
Making a Redchicken throw the ball away after dribbling a double –
Words that are heavy with nothing but trouble:
"Preston to Roderick to McDay."

Sincerest apologies to Franklin Pierce Adams (1881-1960)

[Edited a typo in my plagiarizing poem, it's such a gem, want to have it preserved correctly for posterity. Yes, that's sarcasm.]
