Are any games going to be shown the rest of the way?

I know it's only 5.99/month but no need to even pay that without games.

There's something built into the ESPN contract that they own initial rights for basketball, football, volleyball, and wrestling(?) distribution, isn't there? So we can't just set up a Youtube livestream like I think we do with soccer whenever we please.

ESPN's schedule shows the other out of market mid-major I watch (University of North Alabama) with their next ten games on ESPN+ (if none are postponed or cancelled). All ten are in January, so I guess ten games for $6 is reasonable. Not sure if I'll keep it after that.

Unrelated: Ja Morant's high ankle sprain puts a damper on hoops in this area. The Grizz were already missing Jaren Jackson Jr. for now.

The MAC made the rescheduling announcement on 12/26. Of the four games that were moved, our game today vs BG is the earliest. I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt and say that if it had been scheduled for today from the beginning, we would have been able to make the arrangements to have an ESPN production.

Compare these two schedules. What do you notice different about upcoming games?

I get what you're trying to say, but to me this demonstrates that the MAC is a more attractive draw for TV. Ohio alone currently has six games slated for CBSSN, but that schedule isn't up to date. If you go by our site and not ESPN's we also have most of our tip times set. It looks like North Alabama is locked into ESPN+ whereas the MAC has more flexibility to bump games to CBSSN/ESPNU, and also decide whether the rest will go on ESPN3 or ESPN+. Which by the way, what is the distinction between whether a game gets put on 3 or +?

I agree with the general thrust of most of the comments here. There is really no excuse whatsoever for not having these games covered via a webcast of some sort. The no-students-on-campus excuse just doesn’t wash when so many other schools, with less broadcasting resources, manage to have games on ESPN+ when their students are away. Not a good way to keep those OBC donations flowing, unless you are a complete fool like me who will probably pony up next year as usual, cause I’m a total sucker for OHIO athletics.

+1. Two days notice. As noted somewhere on Twitter by someone from OU (escaping me at the moment), the timeline and notice is what made it difficult. When the majority of the people running the equipment are students, it's pretty hard to just make them show up to campus in 24 hours to produce a game, just so we the fans have our entertainment.

This theory will be tested on Tuesday when NIU visits the Convo for a scheduled game. I give the odds of it being on ESPN+(3) at less than 25%.

I take back my comments. Thank goodness I couldn't watch that mess. Do we have a bench?

OUr bench scored 6 points. Their bench scored 27. Does that help answer your question?

On a positive note OUr starting five out scored theirs 69 to 56.

Could the lack of a bench be related to some of the "talent" signed by the previous coach? What have they done since transferring? (besides carter)

The “previous” coach also signed talent the likes of Ryan Taylor, Jason Carter, Jordan Dartis, Jayson Preston and BVP. Preston and BVP are still key cogs on the Boals train. As I’ve posted on previous occasions way past time to stop kicking Saul as that train long departed the station. I’m not a Saul apologist, I DIDNOT support an extension.

This is a Boals production now and it is “his” recruits who now must step to the plate. It may take some time to see IF the Boals recruits will far outweigh the talents of the previous coach.

Thank you for responding. I was about to as greencat seems to have a hard on for the previous regime. It was time to go but without those present players this season would look dim. We see how we look without JP. I was going through the recruiting thread and Ted's charts to see who is still left. McMurray looks to have got a couple of minutes the other day.

Back to the ESPN thread. I had to reinstall and reconfigure my account since last night. Not sure what happened January 1 but my phones, laptops, desktops and ROKU TV all had to be reset even though Disney happily takes my money every month.

We actually played well without JP, BG just turned in a better game, especially from the FT. But we competed better against BG than we had the previous couple games.

I heard that on the radio call! Great he was willing to chip in, but yeah, that definitely sheds light on the situation.
