With only a handful of potential opponents who do we want? Who do we want to avoid? Realistic opponents:
Oklahoma State
Arkansas
Texas
Kansas
West Virginia
Purdue
Virginia
Florida State
Nova
Creighton
Tennessee
USC

If A&M gets a 3 and Ohio gets a 14 that might be an interesting matchup.

I don’t see any easy ones there, but Nova without one of their stars might be our best chance.
According to Sagarin, we’ve got about the same “recent” ratings as Vilanova and USC indicating their recent success. Playing the recently shut down teams of Kansas and Virginia could go either way-rested or rusty?

Oklahoma State and Arkansas seem like pretty poor matchups. They both have big guards that are lottery picks. Oklahoma State has Cade Cunningham, who is 6 '8 and athletic and plays the 1/2. Arkansas has Moses Moody who is 6'6. Their length could give Preston trouble.

Also a bit of a lose/lose. If their length gives him trouble, we probably lose. If he goes head to head with either and plays very well, his draft stock rises. Especially against Cunningham.

I think we are a #13 seed. When the committee looks at our schedule, we do have some teams in conference we shouldn't have lost to but the 1 point loss on the road at a potential #1 seed Illinois is like an "ok, they can play" moment. Plus we are no strangers to the tournament and upsets so I think they make our 14 seed a #13. That puts us up against a #4. Out those teams I think they make us play against someone close so maybe a Big Ten team. Who is a #4 Big Team is a good question. Purdue maybe? West Virginia would be a good game. Battle of Appalachia!
