Wasn't confident of his 3-pt shooting but have been relieved a bit over the past couple of games. Having to guard Sears from behind the arc, along with his ability to get to the rim and finish, is going to make a tough match up.

And, I think he enjoys being guarded by Bumbalough from what I've seen in 2 matchups this year.

Sears was a really good get when you consider there is a D-1 basketball newcomer a few minutes from his hometown that is in first place in the A-Sun today. Coach Tony Pujol seems to be doing a good job at UNA, they are not overly tall or super-talented but are winning some games.

Sears and McDay are my modern day Mike Reese and Jaivon Harris. Nothing flashy but consistent and TEAMmates. I'm very glad we have them both for years to come.

I agree on the comparison of Jaivon H. and McDay but "Londo" has been really inconsistent this year. Yesterday was a breakthrough - very active all over the court. Let's hope he follows that model. Seems like maybe Boals and he had a talk...

One other thing: I really like Miles Brown's contributions, especially on D. How about that blocked shot?

Not sure if there was a little talk or he decided to get more involved. For awhile, there was a good deal of standing around watching Preston dribble. That seems to have lessened lately. Any idea what role McDay played at ST V?

All I know is he's got an outstanding pedigree. His great uncle was Gus Johnson.

Gus Johnson is his great uncle? Do you mean Gus Johnson senior? The Gus Johnson that played basket ball here is at most 45 or so . Could hardly see how one could be a great uncle. Even an uncle is a long shot at state ch a young age. Could he possibly be related to ed sears a former player here?

I would say closer to 50. Gus' son is committed to play baseball at Indiana.

But yeah...not only age but race and hometown makes me think he couldn't have been talking about our Gus.

Dude. This kid looks so polished on the court. Smooth, comfortable, confident. I am really surprised a power conference team didn't pick up on him at Hargrave.

Gus Johnson from Akron who played high school ball with Nate Thurmond at Akron Central High. Both are in the Hall of Fame.

Gus Johnson played for the Baltimore Bullets and was considered one of the strongest players in the league. Just punished his opponents. He was famous for shattering backboards back in the 1960s.

I don't think he'll catch Rollins at Toledo for MAC Freshman of the Year, but Sears' trajectory feels like it's rapidly rising in the last month or so. Preston having that leg injury may end up being a small blessing. It got Sears a lot of run and he's really playing with confidence right now.
