Can you remember a more dominant run in MAC tourney history? I crunched the numbers on our 120 minutes of play:

Had lead - 116 Min
Led by 10+ - 82 Min
Led by 15+ - 52 Min

We led Kent by 28 with 8 to go
We led Toledo by 18 with 8 to go
We led Buffalo by 19 with 8 to go

What a joy to experience without having any heart attacks. A stark contrast to 05, 10, & 12. You could break it down deeper to really show the complete dominance. All 4 games featured Ohio blatantly running out the shot clock and giving up easy 2s to make the final look closer.

All this playing the 1,2, & 4 seeds...the hardest draw possible. Cheers!

It wasn't just the tournament. It was every game, save one, after the February shutdown including #3 seed Akron. The team really is taking on Jeff Boals' personality and Preston and Vander Plas are the perfect leaders to do that.

I haven't forgotten that either, oldkatz. It's something I never noticed on TV but stood out when watching the game from inside the Convo. There was nothing (chairs, tables, etc...) separating the two teams except about 30 feet of open space. The UB bench players showed no class from where they were standing, directing it directly at the Ohio bench. Nothing Ohio could do, being destroyed on the floor that Saturday, except wait to turn the tables on the court in Cleveland when it mattered most.

Same with the dismantling of Kent in the first game. Kent and their behavior starting with their pigmy head coach.

Jeff didn’t need one, these kids took it serious all on their own, one of the things Coach speaks highly on, their character.

It's rare for a team to be able to go through a tournament and not feel threatened at any time. Even the Gonzagas of the world will run across a team pushing them.

We won by 22, 7 and 15 - so their margin of victory bested ours 48 to 44.

That Kent squad also got a #10 seed and wound up in the Elite 8.

Now this team is seeded 13 and playing Virginia. The bracket they drew gives them a good shot at making sweet sixteen. Virginia will be hard but nowhere near as bad as it could've been. If they win creighton could be their next opponent. They may have to play Gonzaga who would put it all over them. No matter what Jeff boals has done well. I wonder if some larger schools will make offers after the tourney ends. I wonder if he'll stay should that happen. That was the good thing about Larry hunter, he would've stayed on no matter what

Yep...I was there the day they blew us out in Athens, and their behavior was embarrassing. Incessant trash talking. Their #5, a little used sub, was even trying to pick fights toward the end of the game. I guess that's why Boeheim says he won't play them again.

I was at RMFH last night, and I didn't notice a single Bull acknowledging the Cats after the game was over.

The revenge tour was complete with victories over Kent, Toledo and Buffalo in Cleveland.

Good call on Kent and also a great indication of how this type of dominance can play out in the NCAA tourney.

I was unable to find play by play info of the Kent games but I did see box scores and they were tied at the half in both the quarterinals and the Championship. I suspect if we had the data it would show they were pressed deeper into the 2nd half than we ever were.

I don't think that we are ever going to find game control numbers from 2002 but I think that there was a good chance that Ohio's was higher. We put out foot on everyone's throat at the beginning of each game and let the margins dwindle playing more "not to lose" in the final 15 minutes. Kent has less than a 1% chance to win during the last 13 minutes of the game. Toledo only lost by 7 but ESPN gave them only about a 12% chance at the half had only a 1 or 2 percent chance to win for most of second half. Buffalo's chances were in the single digits after the first 15 minutes through the rest of the game. I don't remember enough about how Kent's games went to begin to compare.
