I was reading an article about him and some may know he was one of the very few to play both professional baseball and basketball. Our own Frankie Baumholtz was in that group.

I once heard that Connors is the only player in NBA history to foul out in the first quarter. I haven't seen anything to confirm this, though.

Wikipedia says he is credited with being the first player to shatter a backboard when his 40-foot shot at the end of warmups brought down the glass backboard, which had been improperly installed at the old Boston Arena. Some reports say he tried to dunk it, which led the NBA to outlaw dunks.

He was 6’6”, pretty big in that era. I guess they didn’t call him the “rifleman” for his shooting skills, or he would’ve had a longer NBA career.

It seems he’s being “Branded” as a poor shooter. ;)

Chuck was a “coward” anytime Buffalo was mentioned. What happened at Bitter Creek is ominous.

Dave DeBusschere. Pitched for the White Sox and was a player/coach for the Pistons before moving on to the Knicks.

Dick Groat won POTY in college basketball and NL MVP.
