Way back in 1979-80, my freshmen year dormmates and I wore t-shirts declaring our membership in a fraternity called "Tapa Keg-a Day." It's with no small embarrassment that I recall wearing my bright yellow T-K-D shirt at uptown drinking establishments. Didn't get a lot of dates.

I immediately thought of that shirt when I first saw a few courtside ticketholders at the Convo festooned in bright green velour jackets. They seem to be proliferating, with a few even displaying buttons and other assorted pieces of flair.

What's the deal? And, more to the point, will these otherwise distinguished looking folks (all men, BTW) look back and ask their spouses/friends why they didn't intervene? This is why my wife and I have a "Shoot me if" clause in our marital agreement.

As long as you don't coach D-1 football in the mid-west. No other comment forthcoming.

When the Junction was having .25 shot night (Thursdays?) did it matter what you had on or if it was officially "a date." If you had enough quarters, there was always a chance of getting lucky if you didn't get the spins and pass out first.

Seriously, is the green velour jacket group some sort of formal club?
