You would think a senior coming into the game shooting 25% from the foul line has no where to go but up. But Breath has missed on all 3 attempts from the line tonight.

I missed when this "walking bucket" was named - who is this? And is this reference to making buckets, or travelling? :)

Someone gave me the 'Vid for Thanksgiving.

What's actually going to ruin my night... OU vs GM or Covid?
Update: OU is the worst part of my night.

Just realized Loyola Marymount is 6-0. Wins against Troy (beat Kent, SDSU, Furman) and UCSB.

FAU is 4-1 with wins against BC and Charleston.

Tomorrow won’t be any easier.

Out of curiosity, what number represents "so many folks"?
On a board with 11 active posters, I would say 5 is a lot. But your views may vary.

Nobody in BA chat room - I think first time I have ever seen that during a game....
Actually been that way for a cuuple of years.I keep ducking in to check but it is pretty much empty. AlwAYS enjoyed the chat..... in my best South Park voice "they killed Chat" Not really sure who they is but it has ben dead in there for some time.
Yep you were a pretty common expected participant there. Guess that mode of fan participation must be dyin....

I believe it is Jesse Burris. Word is he went crazy in some summer league tournament, but yet to show it for us.

Update: 0-3 in one trip down the floor in this one LOL

It's really strange that Boals put together this schedule for this team.

Did he think this was a really good team?

Boals said in the post-game interview after the loss to Bethune-Cookman that the schedule he put together was probably a little bit ambitious and tougher than what this team was ready for. And he blamed himself for that lack of preparation.

Thanks to MDWST…he is forever ā€œWalking Bucketā€ā€¦not to be confused with ā€œWalter Luckettā€.

Burris was the MVP of the Kingdom Summer League after averaging about 40 a night this summer. I called him a walking bucket.

Bruce Thornton, John Mobley Jr, basically of OSU’s roster, Trey Burke also played. Gary Trent Jr played a few years ago. Carris Levert. Bunch of D1 guys. Pretty big showcase in the Columbus area.

So after 10 years of coaching he admitted to being a terrible coach and scheduler? This team needed some cupcakes. We will enter MAC play defeated and deflated. His shtick is over.

Will this team get ten wins this season if you count the 2 D-3 games?

Obviously GMU is good but is that a reason to be not good?

I don't think it's over - yet - and we do have a couple cupcakes coming up before MAC play. What happens in January will be determining...Coach and players...

I would love to know what our AD thinks of this. That said, MAC play is really the only measuring stick for this team. Although I do hope they begin to look better during the latter half of this non-conference slate.

The ladies are having a good game against Wright State on ESPN+ if anyone feels like watching a competitive game.

Going into tonight, we were 357th of 365 teams defending the 3. Teams were shooting 42.4% against us. And George Mason's 45% will make it worse.

Last year, we were 349th.

You can't win basketball games defending the three point line that way.

Groce is a better coach than Boals by basically every measure that matters.

But that doesn't mean there aren't posters here who are getting a little cranky. Maybe a nap or a snack?

Listen ... I like Groce, BUT!!!

He has changed his recruiting quite a bit since Ohio-Illinois and his early years at Akron. Early on he took a lot of recruiting risks at each school that led to some serious off-court and lockerroom issues. And he survived them.

Now Groce has a $$$-man to help him recruit and a record of success at Akron to not only prop him up, but allows him to redshirt quality recruits to keep the program solid. Then add, Groce CAN coach, and he CAN motivate.

The fact he has not been on the short list for any jobs in the region over the last 5 years is great for Akron. But would he (or Ford) have the same resources and success at Ohio?

Coaching in this new era is tough. Boals has his short-comings but he deserves a litte grace IMO.
