I think it's an upgrade, though I still an partial to the outline of the state we had when I was in school.

That paw is pretty sick.

I wish they kept the bricks on the baselines though. I love when they lean into it.

IMHO this new floor is butt ugly. I agree with the one poster who said the State of Ohio version was the best. We've now had at least three downgrades from that standard of excellence. I'm hoping this one looks better in person, but I'm not impressed at this moment.

Not a big fan of the paw but I like the look. The bricks was a nice idea but it just didn't work, IMO.

I think the previous court design was perfect. I loved the brick pattern. That is identity. This new two-tone, I don't love it now, but it's alright, and it might grow on me. I don't like the paw. It's simply too high school/women's basketball.

I wasn't a fan of the bricks, so this change is an upgrade, but there are too many shades here. It looks like there are two shades of green between the center logo and the key/baseline, and then there are also two wood tones. Just a ton going on.

This remains the best one, in my opinion: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:OHIOConvoCenter2.jpg

It's a shame they aren't allowed to do the convo logo in the paint anymore. I am pretty sure it's a MAC requirement to have the league logo in the paint.

I liked the two tone wood state better than the all green, but was good with either. Way too much going on this court. I was whatever on the bricks. It made it unique but it was a lot to look at.

This court is just a rip off, worse version than Notre Dame's.

My question is why? Wasn't the last court just 4 years old? Or was it just sanded down and repainted?

I'm not a huge fan of the Ohio state outline (just like the green and white Ohio state flags). I don't hate them but we are one of dozens of colleges in Ohio. Putting the state outline seems almost as bizarre as putting the U.S. outline. Even though we are the oldest and bear the name "Ohio" I don't feel broadcasting that you are one of the schools in Ohio is a brand.

I've never been a fan of painting inside the 3 point line or the entire court either. It looks unnecessarily busy to me. Maybe that just makes me old. But I think that this being just stained and tied together by the center logo looks OK.

The court we had in the early and mid 90's was kind of boring. You can see it here.

I don't remember it, but the court on the Luckett SI cover also looks pretty plain.

I know that we had to have put in a different court or paint job sometime around when we adapted the Attack Cat around 1995 that falls between the Trent era court and the 2008 shot on Wikipedia. But I can't remember what it looked like.

Last time it was just sanded down and repainted. The pictures they posted earlier in the month showed it was a full fledged wood replacement.

Bizarre take. Perhaps you should call THE school in Columbus and set them right as well.

This court was not old enough to be replaced. It should have lasted another 20 years.

Serious question:

What about The Paw triggers "womens basketball" vibes?

And what makes that inferior?

That puzzled me, too. But, "high school" vibes would be right on target.

BS. We are Ohio. We were born with the State and named for the State. We are Ohio. The rest are just wannabees.

Agree, we stake a claim on the state outline more than anyone else. For that reason I liked what we had.

But also, I put this in the same category as curtains my wife selects. I just don't care and barely notice. About this, or about uniforms, and always struggle to form opinions when these topics come up.

I'm just getting a division 3 high school girls basketball vibe with the paw. I don't get the vibe of a program that stood toe to toe with UNC and their first round draft picks. It's like it was picked from a template as opposed to something that's unique to us.

This is kind of how I felt about the bricks, honestly. Our campus has a lot of bricks, sure. But so do a lot of college campuses, as evidenced by the fact that Albin switched schools and ended up at another one that uses bricks in their branding.

Just feels sort of generic and confusing to the average person. Where as the outline of Ohio is recognizable, and a visual representation of the name of our university.

No issue with court design. I have a much bigger issue with our home white uniforms that have Bobcats across the front instead of OHIO.

Kent State's little Ohio outline with a marker for where Kent is located is laughable.
