Former Northern Illinois Huskie Yanic Niederhauser (2022-2024) - 7 footer from Switzerland who hit the portal and transferred to Penn State last year - Just got drafted tonight in the first round, pick #30 by the Clippers.

MAC might not be getting players drafted into the NBA like they did before the turn of the century. However, the MAC is getting sons of former MAC players drafted into the the NBA.

Dylan Harper, son of Ron Harper of Miami, is the #2 pick of San Antonio, while Jeremiah Fears, son of Jeremy Fears of Ohio, goes #7 to New Orleans.

Cool to see Jeremy on TV. He looks like he's still 20 years old.

Guy went from 7/4 on a bad MAC team to 13/6 in the B10 a year later. Guy took an opportunity that he statistically didn't deserve, bet on himself, and paid off exponentially.

I wonder if Sears is gonna sneak into the bottom of the 2nd?

I doubt it, but by all accounts his workouts were impressive. Obviously his skill is impressive (at this level). However.... it'll be tough to outwork 5'10", even if you did showcase some ability in the SEC.

I imagine he gets a two-way after tonight. Would be kind of fun to see a Preston - Sears battle in the future.

Not drafted. He could have accomplished that at Ohio. Ah well, hope he made good $$ (and I'm sure he did) in Bama.

While he was a better shooter/scorer than Preston, he didn't have the size for an NBA guard. Relegated to a PG role at the next level, he didn't have the ball-handling and passing abilities Preston had. And, the other really big knock on him amongst NBA circles was his defense. 5'10 without mad handles/vision and bad defense is a recipe for going undrafted no matter how many points you score in the SEC.

A Jason Preston-esque rise, impressive! I'll always root for former MAC players in the NBA.

During my time in the O-Zone from 21-24, I have seen:

Jason Preston, Mark Sears, Enrique Freeman, Xavier Castaneda, Ryan Rollins. Atleast MAC level players I can remember.

Never forget watching Rollins absolutely humiliate Sears all night in 21-22. Gut-wrenching loss that I think killed us for the rest of the season.

Also to add with WNBA - Jacy Sheldon went crazy in the second half against the OU ladies when O$U came to town. Most obnoxious away fans ever.

Freeman had a really solid summer for Indiana's summer league team. Not sure if it will get him a spot with the big club, but he played pretty well this summer. He was a fixture on the bench for the Pacers during their playoff run this past season.
