As much as we love to bitch about them ...

We are really fortunate to have had a bunch of high quality refs through the Convo. Not sure how many here pay attention to the guys in stripes.

Watching the games today I have seen a couple of dozen guys working that I have seen in the Convo over the years. Pool of 60 selected was decimated by 6 when contact tracing eliminated them but of the ones left quite a few have been in Athens. Scirotto, Boroski, Carstensen, weimer....all of them on the tube today have risen to the upper echelon of officiating. I have seen a few kicked calls today but this has been pretty good so far.

And three of the bigger names that got zapped, refused to follow policy and got dismissed. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Well....now you are just talking out your backside without even having listened to the story or done the research. I'll just let you spout and smile while you make a fool of yourself. Would not want any facts or first hand accounts get in the way.

My apologies to the almighty who is the broker of first hand knowledge, I was unaware that you were at dinner with the three I speak of and knew what happened.

Isn't it amazing how quickly a positive thread goes sour.

I am not sure what BTC is into but I noticed he is getting angry and mean lately in many threads. Attacking folks is not a good look... I admit I get sucked into that a bit and apologize to anyone if that is on me.

There were 6 officials who ran into the problem with rooms and were told by the NCAA to go get something to eat. I read several accounts via Twitter, instagram and press links and was still doubtful and refrained from saying anything till i listened to this interview with Valentine. Most of those guys who went out and are left out of the tourney...higgins, valentine, kissinger, ayres and 2 others are some of the best and "TV Ted" was contrite and forthcoming in his interview that swayed me to listen and evaluate

The statement that there was a refusal to follow protocol seems to be at issue and I am not sure where the info that they egregiously disregarded protocol is clearly at issue in the refs account of what went on. DO you have anything from a first hand source to refute Ted's account?

IT was of special interest to me because IU Health, the facilities where I work, seemingly is involved with Marion County health department and had a role in the decision. OTOH I have been involved in the organization and Medical considerations for Drum Corps International and as a member of the committee tasked with organizing how to get 150 under 21 year olds on busses to travel to housing in area High Schools and Colleges and how to feed them, house them, travel to and from facilities, let them rehearse, compete and finish with their World Championship that takes place every year in LUCAS OIL Stadium since 2009. The NCAA model and testing and NFHS has been something the committee have kept an eye on the entire pandemic as it has money and resources that dci.org does not. The NCAA and NFHS give us a good model and guidance. This incedent exposes an area with the consideration of the Judging community that will be added to our planning agenda following this example of things as we use the same hotels for judges and support staff as the NCAA is using. Making sure travel arrangements and room assignments is not something I think we had really discussed.

I try not to comment on thing unless I have done the research. I find those drive by comments make people look really uninformed and out of sorts. Let's keep things in this space nice and welcoming to those who come here. Said it before and I will say it again....I can't tell you how many folks over the years who have told me they would come on and comment but they are afraid of getting slammed by certain folks. With that I am done with this conversation.

Most do not realize the level of work and commitment to the game that it takes to reach this level of officiating.

The officials were told and knew they cannot ride together and they cannot eat together. We’re they told to go get something to eat? Yes, but they were also well aware that “getting something to eat” was to be a solitary affair. They broke that rule and they paid for it. It’s really that simple.

Go Bobcats! Play well enough to take any discussion of refs out of the equation!
