If UVA can't play, it will be Louisville, per a Russ tweet.
What if another team bows out first?
Four replacement teams are Louisville, Colorado State, St. Louis and Ole Miss.

I think I agree with JSF on this point.

Colo St, St. Louis and Ole Miss are also in the NIT. CSU plays Wednesday and the other two on Thursday this week. If more than one team has to back off from the NCAA by 6:00 tomorrow night, the mad scramble begins.

I'm trying to grasp your logic and I wish you would have quoted my entire quote.....so here it is:

Bilas just called Preston the "Lamelo Ball of the NCAA tournament" and Ohio is the team that could put pressure on Gonzaga. We haven't even played UVA yet. Slow down Bilas!

I do not like all this attention.

At least we weren't listed amongst the Giant Killers on ESPN.
----------

My earlier take off the original post:

"Impossible to fly under the radar when you have either the #1 or #2 point guard in the country who the national media has absolutely fallen in love. Success breeds attention. It's what we've always wanted for this program."
-------------

So what you are saying is that you don't like the national attention that Ohio is getting heading into the tournament? Ohio and specifically Preston have been getting non-stop attention nationally since the Illinois game. Who in their right mind thought Ohio was going to hop into this tournament unnoticed? For crying out loud, we had Illinois beat...the second overall #1 seed...for 39 minutes and 58 seconds. Do you really think Virginia and its players were going to take Ohio lightly if Jay Bilas and the rest of the national media haven't been comparing Preston to Lamelo Ball incessantly for the last four months?

If you don't want Ohio to be on the radar and get national attention, I can't help you. Success breeds attention. Why people don't think Ohio can do this on a consistent basis boggles my mind. I think it was Decidious Forest Cat who summed it up perfectly on another thread:

"Geez. Everyone put piss in their cheerios this morning."

Instead of finding ways to complain about playing Virginia because it might not be the best matchup or it sucks about not being able to attend the game as fans or man I wish Jay Bilas wouldn't have picked us to the Sweet 16, why not embrace the moment and be thankful that we are in the NCAA Tournament and still playing. And most of all, embrace that we aren't under the radar and we are receiving the national attention. It's good for the brand, it's good for the school and it's great for recruiting.

I didn't need to quote the entire post; you understood me. Correct. I hate it, in fact.

This is an exaggeration at best.

Not relevant to whether or not I or others like it.

The game is 40 minutes.

What I think is the reigning ACC and defending national champion are getting treated like the underdog, and it's making them mad.

I don't want your help. This attention? It's poison. It's a siren, and you're running gleefully into the rocks.

Not always. Plenty of successful programs fly under the radar.

They've yet to prove they can or even come close, so.

Or! How about because nobody told you not to be excited, you not tell us how to feel about things, especially if you have no idea how I or others feel. Deal?

I am so happy.
The three game run in Cleveland was a thing of beauty.
I am delighted that we are in the field of 68.
I am happy that our beloved Ohio University is getting national attention.
I believe getting to the dance is a big deal under any circumstance.

Yet despite all this bad news...I am still so happy.

I'm with FearLeon. I've been enjoying the ride ever since we beat Kent in the quarters. I'm grateful that Ohio basketball has quickly exceeded what I consider par for the program. Call it low standards if you want, but whatever happens this weekend save for a complete lack of effort or preparation is gravy for me.

And UVA has one scholarship player on its roster that experienced the loss to UMBC and a few more that were there for the 2019 national championship. If it takes national media fawning over us to motivate them to play their best in a single elimination tournament for the national title, that's their problem.

Having trouble sorting out from your post who wrote this, but I don't think there's any way this is true.

Preston's great. He's been great all year. But there are two point guards (Cade Cunningham and Jalen Suggs) who are going to be top 5 picks in the NBA draft. They've both had dominant seasons.

There are another 6 point guards projected in the first round. I'll grant you that Preston went head to head with one of them and outplayed him, but Preston's going to have to have a monster couple of weeks if we think he's a top two point guard in the country.

Right now, he's a very good college point guard with a good chance at a NBA career. There's a bunch of those guys every year.

All that national media love and every person on the planet picking Ohio to win a game in the NCAA tournament isn’t a bad thing after all…is it? Embrace it...don’t run away from it. Success breeds attention. It’s all part of the process in building Ohio into a Mid-Major power. It can happen in Athens.

That's what we were sold in 07. It SHOULD happen.

BTW Scotty Davenport told us Bellarmine was going to be a D1 team. Took a little longer than expected but...they are....patience is a virtue.
