There is something I've seen BVP do multiple times this season (maybe even last year) that is more prevalent in the NBA (and rarely seen in college). Most notably, I think of the retired Kevin Garnett when I see BVP do this.

Can anyone guess what I'm thinking of. Beer on me next fall/winter before a game at Peden/Convo to the winner.

Launch deep threes with a hand in your face early in the shot clock?

(these sound like we are dogging BVP but I think we're more slamming the NBA game)

Are we talking about BVP or Bean Willis?

Ha, definitely Bean. I have (lightly) criticized BVP three selection in the past. I think he could be more selective, and honestly I think he has been since about January.

Not looking like anyone will get this and I'm not sure if anyone else notices this.

But, try to observe during the next Ohio game(s) when the Bobcats are on defense and the ref whistles the play dead. If a player on the other team shoots the ball after the whistle watch BVP go up around the rim and swat it away. Garnett was known for doing this and I always got a kick out of it. Not sure what the thought process is. Perhaps not wanting an opposing player to see the ball go through the hoop?

I believe that act by the opposing player draws a delay of game penalty! ;-)

Yes. Prevents the shooter from getting the benefit of a practice shot.

Rule number two: please see rule number one

It seems pretty childish to me, but whatever helps him make it through the night.

Yea - it'd be like calling a delay of game penalty when the FG kicker completes the kick even though the opposing coach called a timeout right before the snap

I haven't seen Ben do it, but Garnett would usually catch the ball. I think the idea was to tell the other team there will never be free looks.

14 year old son, who usually doesn't watch sports with me, has joined me for today's game. He starts chuckling in the first half and I ask him why. He told me that BVP cracks him up. I ask him why and he tells me because of how he blocks any shots taken by the other team after the whistle.

I show him this thread and tell him that great minds think alike.
