Found it....great find. It's a great day to be a Bobcat. Now we wait on JP which is going to take a lot longer most likely.

I believe it as well, but will hold off on celebrating until it's official.

Agree that it is a huge plus for next year. Tribute to the culture of this team.

This is good news. Good Ole Mister Wilson (Sweet Lou quote) is tremendous on and off the court. We definitely would not have made it to a MAC title and NCAA tournament without him.

He will have the off season to get his legs back to full strength, and I think he will be even more explosive than this year.

Jason will probably be back. He's a terrific player but he has some work to do before he tries to play in the NBA.

I don't see Preston and BVP leaving. Preston knows he has the keys to the car here. Sears is the one that concerns me. If Preston comes back, he may want to go somewhere where he gets to run more of the show. Hope not. As someone said in another post. our long term success isn't based on Preston, but getting a series of Prestons one after the other. Sears would be a player you want to step right in after JP.

[/QUOTE]Yep...understand the logic. The bond between JP and BVP is tight-knit. Have to believe they want to give it one more go, especially after not having the opportunity the previous season.

I was thinking about this during the game the other day. Sears did get increasing minutes so hopefully he sees that as a trend and is patient. We'll be losing three awfully good players next year but we've got some nice replacement pieces who should develop, led by Sears.

I actually was less concerned with JP leaving because of Sears. I was more worried about DW3 and BVP. If Jay were to leave for the NBA I would not have faulted him and I feel like Sears in year 2 is going to be transcendent. BVP-we have no one to replace him if he left.

We looked best against Creighton with the two of them on the floor together. Ideally Sears would improve as a shooter if he spends time off the ball, but I think there are plenty of minutes for him here. He gets to the rim much better than other non-Preston guards, do if he can keep teams honest on the catch and shoot, it wouldn't shock me if he's part of our best 5 next year.

The only one who has to go after next year is Wilson. This year didn't count.

Getting him back is huge. Allows our other bigs the opportunity to develop or if they're ready, keep Wilson fresh and have a rotation of bigs to throw at someone.

Which by the way, if you're gonna compete in March, you better have viable big men. Not discounting guards, but the bigs department is where you need someone the opposing team can honor

Just want to +1 on the excitement about the Wilson news. Very happy to have him back as a Bobcat!

As for the Sears question: I hope Boals is talking to him about schemes to get him more minutes and shots. I love when he and JP are on the floor together. Too many scorers... we need more basketballs!

Great to hear he intends to come back! Not easy for other teams to account for him close to the basket.... One thing I hope he, (and all our bigs that set picks for Jason out high) can do in the off season is work on that, just beyond the foul line jumper, that will inevitably be needed when they double Jason way out high. If we can reliably make people pay for doubling JP, look out!
(The biggest if being that Jason returns...)

Miles Brown is more likely to see the writing on the wall and transfer than Mark Sears.

However, my sources tell me that Miles and his brother, not unlike Mason Mac, are enjoying Athens, Ohio University and the team too much to want to go somewhere else. We'll see.

If yOU want a team like '12 then yOU need to find a TJ Hall, Ricardo, and John to come off the bench. Getting Mr. Wilson to return means OUr focus should be on adding depth. (Sears covers what Stevie added)

And in my opinion Sears is way better than Stevie. Stevie could never get to the rim like Sears.

Great news, I always love when a transfer falls in love with Athens, it never fails!

One piece of the puzzle is back, however, I always felt this one was obvious.

I'm most concerned about JP and BVP. If one or the other decides to go, it makes me really wonder if the other will follow suit.

I'm more concerned about a transfer situation more than JP leaving for the NBA. If NBA scouts tell him he needs better competition night in and out, how else could he fill that void?
