Did anyone else fall out of their chair when Foster entered the game? That came completely out of left-field. In the 90 seconds Foster played in the first half he got a rebound...defended MBalla well and dove for a loose ball. Obviously, he's not 100%...but I'd love to see him be the first guy off the bench for Wilson in the tournament. Granger is doing everything he can, but he's overmatched in the paint and looks every bit a true freshman. Foster gives a big body in the paint that Granger can't provide.

I was listening at that point and thought Russ made an error. I feel good about Granger having the motivation to continue to develop. His heart is definitely not an issue.

Totally agree. He'll develop, but obviously Granger was thrust into a situation this year where I'm sure Boals would have liked to have a Foster/Miguel help spell Wilson instead. Granger can't match-up with the other team's center, but Boals has no other option. Maybe he can get something out of Foster in Indy.

We could also use Rifen back from, presumably, COVID. Foul trouble for Wilson or BVP is likely to rear it's head.
The more options the better.

Correct....have to believe foul trouble will be an issue at some point soon. Credit to Wilson and BVP for staying out of it for the most part. I know BVP fouled out last night, but it was already over. These guys in particular are doing a good job of not taking lazy fouls and really the whole team for that matter.

I wasn't shocked to see Foster last night given the circumstances. Wilson was banging with Mballa and others all night and needed some breathers. Miguel was out so Granger got the first call but picked up 4 fouls in about 3 minutes. Boals had no other option but Foster for a few seconds to get Dwight a blow. Given we were up by double digits it was the perfect opportunity. If the game was more in doubt I don't know if you would have seen him or not. Depends on how much Boals trusts him vs. Wilson fatigue.

Definitely need someone to give us a solid 5-10 minutes off the bench in Indy. Between fatigue and fouls Wilson and BVP can't both play 35+ and we're going to be at a size disadvantage inside (especially if we draw Purdue)

I thought Foster played well in his stint last night, but I'm not about to tell Jeff Boals how to manage his personnel.

I also found it interesting that Jalen White never left the bench the last two games of the MAC Tournament and only played four minutes against Kent State. The three previous games before quarantine, he played a total of 19 minutes. Not a lot, but he was getting some play. Makes me wonder if maybe he was quarantined or something and was unable to get his legs under him in time for the tournament.

I think when tournament time comes you shorten your bench. Thought Boals did it well.

According to Arkley, Miguel has rejoined the team for the NCAAs.
