Now would be a great time for ou to leave the mac. Best conferences for us would conference USA, the big east or the American. Then the football team would continue getting better . The basket ball team would also benefit from not having to win the conference tourney to get in the NCAA tourney. The conferences i suggested are conferences where ou would be competitive consistently and could win enough games in tourney to get at large bids. There would be more games on tv and recruiting would be better.

Many in Huntington regret leaving the MAC for CUSA. That’s proven to be a joke conference. The others you mention aren’t happening.

Gotta expand Peden first. Adding another 15,000 seats should do it, right BTC?

The Big East doesn’t have FBS football.

“What are the events in life? It’s like you see a door. The first time you come to it, you say, Oh, what’s on the other side of the door? Then you open a few doors. Then you say, I think I want to go over that bridge this time, I’m tired of doors. Finally you go through one of these things, and you come out the other side, and you realize, that’s all there are, doors, and windows and bridges and gates and they all open the same way and they all close behind you.” - Roger Sterling

We should put this thread on the calendar so we all know when it will appear each year.

The Bobcats should join the NFL. We'd never have to win our division to make the playoffs. Our nine wins a year would always be good enough for a wildcard.

CUSA rates higher than the MAC in basketball on very limited date this year. This is the first time in quite some time that has happened. Many years CUSA has not just been worse but markedly so. This is also true in football. The MAC is usually better. OUr travel costs would be higher in CUSA. The conference membership is also probably less stable. Let's not even think about this as a good idea.

The Big East would not want us right now and we would have to go independent in football like UConn. This isn't happening.

If you could keep the basketball and football program near the top of a the MAC for I while then someone might get invited to the American if a couple of teams bolted for the Big XII (which has only ten members). We might be able to get on their radar for possible membership. We would not be joining the American as it is but a weaker one (missing two or maybe all of UC, Memphis, UCF, and Houston) so it wouldn't be as big an upgrade in level of play as you might think. It would have higher costs and be a less stable situation. TV revenue and exposure would still likely be higher even in the weakened conference. It isn't an impossibility that this could at some point be a good fit for both the American and Ohio but I'd take a series of circumstances to occur beforehand. I personally would hate to leave all of the schools that we have partnered with for decades unless we know it is definitely for greener pastures.

Why? MTSU doesn't draw squat for football in a town of 150,000.

I agree, would also be a great time to capitalize on the excitement of joining CUSA and launch a major funding project for an upper deck at Peden to handle the crowds that CUSA teams would generate.

We have a lot of infrequent visitors or new guests to the site this week, so it is important that we let everyone know that this poster has a long history of making very bizarre posts, all centered around his obsession with the "big time." About 50% of his posts refer to Kansas in someway. He rarely engages in any discussion about his assertions, just throws them out there and runs...only to return and do it all over again later.

I rarely judge someone online because you really don't now who you're dealing with and what factors may be present that you don't know about...but this context had to be provided. I'd hate the narrative be created that "Ohio fans think they're too good for the MAC." No, we don't.

Football to the NFL and basketball to the NBA. I see no downside to either of these.

Some may not know this, but we lose money on sports. If we go to a conference where travel costs rise substantially, and they will, we lose even more money. Marshall is a good example as someone posted earlier.

Do you honestly think that anyone who has read any of your frequent posts doesn't know we lose money on sports? I would think that your obsession with overspending, rationalization of costs and the myriad of other things you point out would have left little doubt as to the state of the monetary situation that exists in collegiate athletics. I would agree with your comment here as travel would really increase our costs. I was trying to ignore this crap stirrer's original post to start the thread, but good to know he gave you a platform to reassert your opinion once again.

It is nice to see guys who take the time to satirize the original post and one who knows to clarify to our guests that we are not too good for the MAC.

You only have to win seven to win the NFC East and get a home game for the first round of the playoffs.

MAC is where we belong. But AAC could be fun. The Browns and Steelers in Peden even better.

And OU never lost money on athletics. Knows exactly where all that money is. 😎
