Watching this board devolve into "I hate you because you think something different from me about some dumb college sports thing" over the last couple of years has been awfully enjoyable to watch from a distance.

Wish I enjoyed it. Drove me to linger from a distance.
Same.

my take on Jaaron vs Jason transfers..

Jaaron was the star PG on a good team coming back. expectations were high his final season.

Jason transferred after two 14 win seasons.

i was sad for us happy for them both times and glad neither went to a MAC school.
I think some people also forget that Simmons also transferred TO Ohio. Michigan wasn't his second school, it was his third as he transferred to Ohio from Houston. For those who criticize him for leaving Ohio, do you also criticize him for coming to Ohio in the first place? Probably not.

Yet, a year ago when I mentioned this line of thinking, several gave me all kinds of crap. Hmmm....

I do agree that there's a lot more vitriol lately - often for no reason. I'm particularly annoyed with some users' imperiousness and thin-skinned rage. That said, it seems a shame to let a handful of trolls kill the board.

Instead of lamenting the declining discourse, I suggest ignoring trolls and engaging with people who are sharing useful information. There are still some here.

Sounds reasonable.

It's a reasonable counter. For me, it got to a point where getting past the noise to get to the signal became work and it wasn't fun to come here anymore. So I stopped posting and went to the chatroom during games. And then that stopped being enjoyable, so I stopped coming to the site altogether.

When the forum gets an upgrade, an ignore feature would help tremendously. Until then, if I choose to keep posting, I'll do my best to ignore trolls, people auditioning to be Colin Cowherd's sidekick, and those speaking Authentic Frontier Gibberish. It's lonely out here for a Bobcat and really easy to get disconnected when you're so far away.

With coaches making millions and being able to change jobs when they want to, the transfer rules are one more slap in the face to the unpaid labor who are the players. They should go where they think it’s best for them. Loyalty is over with the current state of things in my opinion.

What a revelation. I had no idea you felt this way.  I wish you'd come out of your shell more often and express the way you really feel about this issue.  I had no idea! frown cheeky cool

There are some posts you read and you think you know who the poster is. Then there are are some posts when you KNOW, without looking, who the poster is.

You and everyone else can change jobs when they desire.

I also didn't know that you thought college athletes had jobs, and should be eligible to join a players union. Keep telling us new stuff. Thanks!

I think you guys are giving in to nostalgia.

I've gone back and looked at the discourse around here "back in the day."

It was pretty crappy back then, too. I was just 21 years old and didn't know any better.

I agree. A lot depends on the state of the program too, and unfortunately both our basketball & football programs were/are in the not terrible sometimes good but not enough for some category that seems to drive a lot of repetitive conflict.

Thanks for the bump so I could be reminded of how awful that Buck.Cat was. Luckily he was a flash in the pan.

Also, I reinstitute myself as President of the JC fan club.
