How many on this board have "illegally" downloaded music or a movie?  What about streaming a game from an unauthorized website?  If so please check your obnoxious moral standards at the door.  After all, in some states this substance is legal( Yes I know the amount is a factor)

Really? You're comparing downloading music to buying kilos of marijuana? And it's not legal in Ohio so what does that have anything to do with it?

Is stealing worse than selling drugs?  To me stealing is worse than selling a recreational drug....

Lars Ulrich? Is that you????

I said in an earlier post not to throw stones but really......? You think moving large amounts of pot to sell to .....i dunno.....how many ways do you split a Kilo.....high school and college kids .....somehow is on the same level as even illegally distributing a song to the same number of  kids would be>?  Strange logic

BOth are illegal I grant you that.

Health repercussions notwithstanding given the inhalation of the substance..... the distribution has far more reaching consequences .......there is a reason it is a controlled substance. Even if It wee legalized., regulated and taxed, what he was doing would be illegal.

Which is why schools have those signs out front stating "this is a download free school."

This is a debate that has nothing to do with the current situation. We're not talking about intellectual property here.

Oh hey.  I got busted for downloading music.  Luckily, I was not the starting point guard of a basketball team with huge expectations for the upcoming NCAA Tourny.  And no.  It is not the same thing.  I paid a hefty settlement to the music industry.  Did not go to court.  The only person I had to talk to that had any type of authority was an RAD of the dorms.  A big mistake, but not the same thing....

Thanks - DJ is dishing dimes - Abreu is selling them.  Too bad the game tomorrow isn't at Kent - God would that be fun.  Would only be better if Akron had to face the Ozone tomorrow.

Over 5 lbs of marijuana according to this article.  Also someone else was arrested along with him at the residence. http://www.wkyc.com/news/article/287744/4/Akron-Zips-star... type="_moz" />

Not too far from the truth. Former WWE wrestler 123Kid aka XPac was busted on a pot charge.

They better hope he's the only player selling drugs.

The backup point guard and player who figures to get the added minutes is Carmelo Betancourt, also from Puerto Rico.  You have to wonder, playing the same position and hailing from the same area...if these 2 are good friends who are into the same things and do a lot of "stuff" together.

I don't want to be happy about this, but it is hard not to.  It definitely helps our chances (I'd bet Vegas would have us as a 3+ point favorite in Cleveland now) and I really have never liked Abreu.

99% chance we never see Abreu again.

I feel bad for Akron fans.  Can you imagine if this news broke about DJ right now?  How heart broken and disgusted we would be?  I know it isn't quite the same since DJ is our clear star and Abreu is more an intergral part, but yeesh, what a kick in the nuts.

Not even his residence.  Don't be surprised if he is back for the tournament.

As much disdain I have for the Zips, this is not what anyone would wish on anyone. It's unfortunate and sad. I hope Abreu can get through this and put his life back in order.

I'd imagine a few Kent Staters could make the short journey.

How much is a college scholly worth.

Current prices. $307 an oz.

Interesting economics

National press grabbed it up.....probably generate way more attention than the black jersey with @ZipsBB or whatever

I couldn't help but notice in that High Times price listing that Akron is their point of reference for prices in Ohio......

If this package was sent from out of state, it's probable he will face federal charges as well.

through the mail is an automatic federal charge - two guys arrested. I've watched enough Law and Order to know one is going to roll over on the other - see who talks first.

You guys are a bunch of classy fellows. Cheers to you . I was expecting to come on here and cheer and say we have this on lock down, but you guys showed me a different perspective and life is not all about basketball. This is a major blow not only to Akron but the whole MAC as Akron represents the MAC. I hope the best comes of our teams.

I'm surprised Alex was there to sign for it. I heard the package tracking has chronic problems.
