...per tweet from Beacon Journal's George Thomas.  School withholding comment.  No other immediate details.  So how's your evening so far, Mr. Dambrot?

trafficking - what are the extremes of this?  possession of  large amount to actual dealing?  Anyone know what that term refers (or reefers - had to) to?

Guess their season just went up in smoke!  this could be fun.

If Mo Pearson was finished for a nerf gun, I would say this is significantly worse.
Way to go Zippy Nation!

i'll get the ohio revised code and insert here.

as promised

(3) If the drug involved in the violation is marihuana or a compound, mixture, preparation, or substance containing marihuana other than hashish, whoever violates division (A) of this section is guilty of possession of marihuana. The penalty for the offense shall be determined as follows:

(a) Except as otherwise provided in division (C)(3)(b), (c), (d), (e), (f), or (g) of this section, possession of marihuana is a minor misdemeanor.

(b) If the amount of the drug involved equals or exceeds one hundred grams but is less than two hundred grams, possession of marihuana is a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.

(c) If the amount of the drug involved equals or exceeds two hundred grams but is less than one thousand grams, possession of marihuana is a felony of the fifth degree, and division (B) of section 2929.13 of the Revised Code applies in determining whether to impose a prison term on the offender.

(d) If the amount of the drug involved equals or exceeds one thousand grams but is less than five thousand grams, possession of marihuana is a felony of the third degree, and division (C) of section 2929.13 of the Revised Code applies in determining whether to impose a prison term on the offender.

(e) If the amount of the drug involved equals or exceeds five thousand grams but is less than twenty thousand grams, possession of marihuana is a felony of the third degree, and there is a presumption that a prison term shall be imposed for the offense.

(f) If the amount of the drug involved equals or exceeds twenty thousand grams but is less than forty thousand grams, possession of marihuana is a felony of the second degree, and the court shall impose a mandatory prison term of five, six, seven, or eight years.

(g) If the amount of the drug involved equals or exceeds forty thousand grams, possession of marihuana is a felony of the second degree, and the court shall impose as a mandatory prison term the maximum prison term prescribed for a felony of the second degree.

to get trafficking in ohio we are not talking about a small amount. For a controlled buy of the size to get trafficking me thinks they have been on him for a bit. trafficking is felony. i'll get the ohio revised code and insert here.

Sounds like he'll be doing serious time.

this is a blow to Akron, but if anyone will get the rest of his troops to step it up, Dambrot will.  Our path to the NCAA is still very precarious, and will go through an Akron team with a major chip on their shoulder.

3rd degree felony charges. Based on Matt's statue, that means over a kilo. I'd have to think he may be done not just for the season.

Abreu, dude, what the....?  What are you doing?

Good grief.

Even though I despise Akron basketball this frustrates the hell out of me.

Uhg.

They better hope he's the only player selling drugs.

Agreed, especially because I believe the issues we had with 'kron in the previous two meetings this season had to do with out inability to match up with their bigs, not their guards.

That being said, this may have sealed my making the drive to Cleve for my first ever MAC Tourney.

Yeah I would be worried about multiple players being involved.  I honestly feel a little bad for the fans.

It's actually two 3rd degree felonies. One for trafficking and one for drug abuse.

I'd be quick to assume other players at least knew what he had been doing...  hopefully not involved, but could get tangled up in this mess.

I actually feel really bad about this. Why would someone with so much promise do this? I mean I don't think he had a future in the NBA but would have certainly played overseas.

I do hate it for their fans and in a way our fans. If we beat them in Cleveland I want it to be with all their horses. It will be very interesting to see how they respond tomorrow night vs. Kent.

Dealing more than just dimes.

arrested by narcotics officers - so this was not just a random traffic stop that resulted in a "find."

Maybe Jay Bilas can spin this into an excuse for why college athletes should be paid to play.

Glad the posts here have stayed classy. It's a shame for him, his family, team, and fans. Hopefully this doesn't ruin his life.

As for basketball, I don't think it's an immense help to us beating Akron. Beating them with or without him won't be easy.

Really? Those size guards are a dime a dozen over there from what I have seen....but that is beside the point and a whole nother discussion.

YOu got to wonder WTF he was thinking. Seems like just the other day I was talking about the character of those athletes. Just something about them I do not like.....and I like most basketball players as a rule.
