I've never been a huge fan of the two-toned wood court designs.

It may just be nostalgia, but I still vastly prefer the simple green state of Ohio at center court, with the attack cat inside of it and the Convo logos in the keys. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/205054589255087780 /

Ok the brick thing could be pretty cool.

I still find it funny though that we have it in the budget to update the court design but not to paint or update the concourse.

I'm with you. Oregon has a two-toned wood court. I cringe whenever I see it.
I'd rather watch an Oregon game than an NIU game.

Green bricks, I hope. Red or brown bricks would look awful.

I'd have to see the whole background but I haven't been a real fan of some of the artistic floors. Sometimes it's hard to see players and refs because their unis blend into the background on some floors. Especially true of NIU's monstrosity.

I think we can all agree the loss of the Ohio at center court stands as the greatest travesty of the 21st Century. I would also prefer a green Ohio, but I'll settle for an offset wood color.

Regardless of what they do at the Convo, nothing can be as bad as what exists at Northern Illinois...nothing!

Another issue is how it looks on a camera. Our court is very light -- with all the white in the Attack Cat, cameras almost blur out. A second, darker background will help, iMO.

Not defending the shoddy look of the concourse, but I don't think resurfacing the court is really an optional expense. I believe it needs to happen every X years for proper maintenance.

Only surpassed by the greatest travesty of the 20th Century, and of all time, changing Ohio Stadium to Peden Stadium. Mr. Peden could have been honored in some other way.

So far I like what we can see of the new design but will need to see it all before making a final judgement about it. I too think how it appears on TV will be a major factor. I wonder if Jeff Boals had any input at all in what was selected? I wonder too if we are the first school to include bricks as part of the design on a basketball floor. I would assume so.

In looking at the brick design I couldn’t help but think that Virginia Tech may want to take notice and copy the idea with the beautiful stone that makes up the bulk of their buildings.

Without hesitation, I think NIU's court is the worst court in college basketball. It's harder to watch a televised game on it.

I am loving the bits and pieces we are seeing so far with court design. Not sure why it would tick people off here. We aren't going to look like NIU. And I'd be shocked if Boals isn't consulting on this....shocked.

From a design standpoint, we should be leaning into our tradition, and the fact that we're an old university. The classic look should be our guide.
