Summer of 1975, it’s me versus Billy Littlefield for the OU basketball camp championship. He won and we both end up Bobcats.

Alan, Billy, OCF, RpBobcat and any interested parties, I wanted to relate a conversation I had a short time ago with another university's administrator. I brought this issue up and they point blank told me that there has to be an ulterior motive (which I initally wondered about in my previous post about possible political axe grinding.)

This person told me that ever since the Governor, the President, Dr Facui and the CDC talked about not getting the virus if you are vaccinated, as well as the low transmission rate to begin with among young people and the fact about plummeting cases and outdoor activities being safe, this makes no sense. There are camps happening all over the place and soon with no restrictions at all.

This administrator talked about the type of political shenanigans that happens with lame duck presidents, and the political axe grinding etc. This person told me to tell all Bobcat fans to buckle up because you have no idea what kind of craziness will come down on you before you get a new president.

This person related to me a story their brother who is a Supertintedent told of a large public school district. The story goes that the bus drivers were not happy about their treatment etc by the school's athletic deaprtment so the bus drivers took it upon themselves to slow everything down on their way to fall sports games one year. Within two weeks of nearly missed football games, soccer games etc the bus drivers got everything they wanted.

I think the point of the story was that at the college level, there are lots of miffed administrators at our beloved Alma mater, to say nothing of the faculty who are really upset about not only atheletics, but the state of the university budget in general. This kind of stuff isn't going to be limited to a basketball camp. Until the leadership void is filled, it sounds like we can expect more of this.

cbus fan, I note that there was a notice in the Messenger tonight of a special meeting of the Board of Trustees on Thursday. It will be a virtual meeting and most of it will be in executive session. My best guess is that we are going to have a new president or interim president very soon. If interim, I'm betting on David Scholl. This would mean that the Trustees are taking control in a very direct way. I think the president is not the last head to roll (figuratively speaking) from the upper echelons of the administration of dear olde OHIO!
