It is laughable that you don't see the differences in the 2 situations.
You are obviously compromised in this situation, similar to the recruitment of Ben Wight. I'll slow things down so you can understand. They are actually similar situations. As I stated with Simmons, he had a good idea where the program was heading. Saul did not get an extension after year 3. Simmons and anyone else with a fully developed brain could see the significant dip in recruiting which would further take the program in the wrong direction. If you are a player in his position, do you stay with the sinking ship or do you take the opportunity with a program of the caliber of Michigan? Easy choice. Carter is doing pretty much the same thing. He's starting over with a well established program like Xavier and he'll be eligible right away.
I will also state the obvious: between Carter and Wight, you definitely have a type.
I don't think I am compromised like you are claiming Andrew is for whatever reason, so let me chime in on why fans see this as two different situations.
Jaaron's situation
1) Team coming off back-to-back 20+ win seasons
2) Team came within one possession of beating the eventual MAC champs in the MAC semi-finals
3) Coach returning
4) Core of players returning (Carter, Dartis, Laster)
Carter's situation
1) Team coming off back-to-back 14 win seasons
2) Team hasn't made it to Cleveland in back-to-back seasons
3) Coach not returning
4) Core of players leaving or hurt with unknown status (Kirk, Dartis)
