Going to be a yearly occurrence of roster turnover with where we are with college sports free-agency. Wish Jalen well. Confident in Boals to continue to successfully navigate the portal for when he adds and subtracts.

Sad to see this news. I know the PT may not have been there this year but he was prob one of our best 3pt shooters. Best of luck to him and where ever he ends up.

This one stinks. I felt like he could give us 3 great years after this year. All he did was score when he did play. He will surface at another school and score in double figures in a year. Mark it.

Now what do we do? Sit on scholly or try to nab someone else? When will JP decide?

I just don't get splitting after one year when you know going into your freshman year with this roster that playing time was going to be tough to get. I'm sure there are other factors involved that we don't know about, but the NCAA has created this mess.

You could generally tell that Jalen was a good teammate and seemed to be very well liked by his teammates and coaches. Hope he finds great success at next stop.

Good news is that Boals is in charge. He'll have a plan because he had a plan the first minute he spoke at his introductory press conference when named head coach.

Unless he was suggested to move on or he needs to be closer to family, I can't say I understand this decision. I believe we were his only D1 offer. Considering he didn't garner much playing time and 6'5" shooting guards pretty much grow on trees, it seems risky to leave a place that has good momentum and is already invested in his future.

I can see where he might be frustrated with PT. In the last five games he played four minutes in a blowout win vs Kent, nothing in a comfortable win over Toledo, nothing in a blowout win in the MACCG vs Buffalo, and nothing in the blowout loss to Creighton. At least getting his name in the scorebook at Indy would've been a bonus. So it's hard to blame him for wanting to go somewhere that wouldn't sit him all the time. And maybe he'll want to come back in year or so. But if he finds himself happier somewhere else, more power to him.

This one hurts. We really really REALLY needed MORE long, athletic combo-guard/wing guys who can play D and shoot the 3. Not one less.

Jalen had the length and the shooting - was hoping the athleticism and or D would evolve over time and thought he could be a contributor off the bench this year.

Without him, the only guy on our roster who can fill that role is BRod and if we're counting on him to guard more than a paper bag we're in a world of hurt.

Our roster - as talented as it is - has some gaping holes in the middle of it now IMO. We're STACKED at PG and PF/C. Our wings....yeah.

I don't see how we don't address this with another player at this point. I wanted one more wing BEFORE this announcement.

I'd like to think Towns could be that.

I mean I don't see why we can't snag someone else out of the transfer portal. I know it's not as easy as it sounds but some wishful thinking over here.

And as I'm typing this I see Kent State snag two transfers...one from Georgia (via Stony Brook) and another from Vanderbilt.

I’m shocked someone from Houston wouldn’t want to stay in rural Ohio.

Oddly enough, there is another Jalen White in the transfer portal as well… 6’5” guard/forward on the Corpus Christi team… One Jalen White wants to go back to Texas and one wants out… Wacky stuff…

None of us knows how hard he works in practice, whether he's going to class, etc.

A bit late to be entering the portal. regarding playing time, not much there if Preston stays. Some minutes open up if he stays in draft. Hopefully there are some dots to be connected.

I wouldn’t be surprised that Mr White has some good leads before he declared. There really aren’t that many guys that shoot 46% or whatever from 3 so he might find a home with that going for him.

Nicholls State not that far from home. As someone said in his Twitter feed it's a short road trip instead of a flight.

If I were a betting man, that difference is probably the biggest factor in his transfer.

Makes you wonder why if that was the difference....and I believe it's a big part....why would he come to Ohio in the first place?

I don’t think it’s all that unusual. How many 18-year-olds want to get away, then realize they didn’t really want that?

We were his only offer when he committed, so he may have just taken what he could get.
