The directional members of OUr league have to catch up with the rest of the conference for the MAC to improve in men's basketball. WMU went with a new coach this season, NIU let Montgomery go mid-year, while CMU and EMU are now looking to replace Davis and Murphy. I gotta think Whitford might be on the hot seat at Ball St., especially after seeing their best 2 players, El Amin and Coleman, move on to other schools. Early returns at NIU are good. Hopefully the other schools can also make good hires.

Way to wait around for like a month.

EDIT: Guess the buyout just dropped today.

Another motive for mid majors letting go of experienced coaches: salary dump. I think we will see schools hiring high major assistants for $250-350 thousand. Remember that serious budget problems is still the 800 lb gorilla in the room.

Not sure you're wrong, Jeff. But I think Davis's W-L record is enough motive.

Yes. They did give him plenty of time.

If Ohio's former AD is doing the hiring, the salary you mentioned above would be doubled.

Thankfully, he's the former AD and it's a great day to drink SoCon.

Keno rode a lucky season he didn't even earn for a decade.

CMU hires Tony Barbee, former head coach at UTEP and Auburn. Spent the last seven years at Kentucky.

EDIT: Reading around on this, I have yet to see anyone say anything nice about him or this hire.

Wouldn't be shocked to see a massive influx of transfers there.
