Thanks Cats5! Glad to hear AJ Clayton is progressing nicely. To be honest, I was thinking he would redshirt this year and take the league by storm next. Maybe we need him now if Dwight is recovering? Very curious to see how everything shakes out…
Go Bobcats!
Sorry if I missed the specifics, but what is DW3 recovering from?
Oh, nothing certain but Cats said in his post about the scrimmage, that Dwight didn’t participate in the game so, there may be something up with him… Note the word “if”… ;)
He was just in street clothes. Didn’t have any brace, walking boot, casts, etc on so that’s a positive

Looks like with all the new bigs that Dwight has decided to switch positions.

Warren would never see it if we did say something about him.

“Asked what advice he would give a new man in the business, Swain said, ‘Don’t read letters to the editor. Don’t listen to radio call-in shows, and don’t pay any attention to the internet and the chat rooms.’ I never listened to any of that. I knew some people didn’t like me. So be it.’”

There was something that my fiancé (who isn’t big into basketball) said to me while we watched the practice. She said Boals has the best problem to have, a lot of guys can get minutes. I totally agree with that. One thing that really stood out was the play of the new guys.

I stated earlier that AJ looked good. He took outside shots that didn’t fall but they were good ones. He also threw a two hand dunk down as well. One thing that I loved was when he was guarding JC. JC drove to the left block with the ball and AJ was right there on his hip without fouling. Very quick when in fast breaks.

IJ didn’t get a lot of touches but he seemed comfortable with the plays they were running and in person, he’s just as big as DW4. He can run the floor pretty well too.

OLUMIDE ADELODUN (yes I copy and pasted that lol) if I didn’t know any better, someone could’ve told me that he’s a junior and I would’ve believed them. He is big for being a freshman. He took a shot in front of me and his mechanics were very smooth. I can definitely see him being a lethal shooter.

Now to the new… but not new guy. JC looks real good. Was very vocal like a veteran should be. He hit a step back contested 3 over BRod to end the last session and he played a little like BVP. Back down his defender to the block and would hit a step back J or baby hook in the middle of the paint. A little thing on the side…. I was wondering how that relationship with him and Boals would go. I certainly didn’t see anything that shows Boals doesn’t trust him. When they had 5v5, I noticed Boals letting JC get into his teammates about not getting back on D and giving up good looks. Hopefully this continues for the rest of the season.

The transfer: Tommy Shmock. I’m just gonna say it… dude can shoot. He also has very good ball handling skills. I didn’t really notice him on defense though. Which is one thing that Miles was just on a different level with today. Tommy didn’t look flustered and ran the offense with ease. I wonder how Boals is gonna treat this backup PG position.
So do you see Adelodun playing this year? Can Clayton pass Granger? How was he and Towns? I believe Schmock is going to be a legit backup point guard and allow Miles to play the off guard backup spot. It would be great to be able to get Sears 5 minutes of rest a game with a guy who can bring instant offense and just not turn the ball over. We don't necessarily need any more 6-8 tweeners. We need an athletic defender in the mold of Towns. That's why I'm wondering Clayton is that guy? Towns? Ezuma? Adelodun? Thanks for the info. I love hearing good news.

"Next" refers to you beating someone and then exclaiming "next team up" to the court.

Run it back simply means running the same team back for another go round. So it's the opposite of next, in a sense. Could imply running it back with the same team you just had, or the same team you just played against.

I’m not sure if Adelodun play this year but there’s always a chance. Granger is probably our backup 5. I can see AJ being a backup 4 to BVP. Towns and Granger didn’t get a lot of touches from what I was able to watch but Towns looks bigger. Only thing I didn’t like about Towns was that BVP backed him down into the paint with like 5 dribbles so that size difference will be there. But when it comes to players like Towns, I don’t think we will have one. AJ might be the closest because he showed his speed during the practice.

Or if you're not in the game, "whose got next" is the call. If a theme has to be explained, it's not a very good theme - at least in the world of effective marketing.

My son watches a YouTuber from New Zealand, (Jimi Jackson) and he used “Run it back” with regards to a rematch in a video game… Looks like it’s world-wide baby! :)

Run it back is a pretty standard and well-known vernacular. As alluded to above it just means basically "let's do it again" either in terms of the winning team staying together to try to do it all over again (which is how OU is using it in terms of let's repeat last year) or it could mean both teams stay for round 2, used frequently after a really close/exciting result.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought most of their players back this year after winning the Super Bowl last year and said "let's run it back". Same idea.

ask Arkley? isnt he the media guy? maybe he knows?
My source(s) in Athens have me thinking we might not see D. Wilson until after the calendar turns to 2022. Additionally, has anyone heard anything about another player on our roster no longer participating in team practices but is still on campus and attending classes?

Where's Arkley when BA needs him?

Well....this isn't getting the attention it deserves. So if Wilson is out, Carter is a slam dunk starter?

Yo...that's some big breaking news if true.

And yes, if DW3 is out for any reason I'd assume that has to make Carter a defacto starter.

Still no bueno. I don't see any gimmes on our schedule until Mount (maybe) or Concordia. We need Dwight.

FWIW, Russ has a preview with Coach Boals on his Twitter. Boals mentioned Dwight getting hurt, but didn't go into detail on when, how long, type, etc.
