I believe I was the first one on here to call a Ohio-UB matchup in the MAC finals this year (I believe as far back as January) and I'm going to make a way-too-early prediction that the same two teams will be back playing on Saturday in Cleveland in March, 2022.

UB loses Graves but returns everyone of note and is bringing in some highly rated h.s. seniors and a G. Washington transfer.

Buffalo will always be tough but as long as they keep their coach and we keep our coach, we will always outcoach and outplay them. They can dominate or they can be dominated.

They're always a force to reckon with. They've had just one losing MAC season in the last 13 and have won at least ten MAC games in ten of those 13. And that's with four different coaches. They've built a program that reloads, not rebuilds.

As long as their current coach is roaming the bench, I will always like our chances against them with our current coach roaming our bench.

Not sure I understand the negative sentiments about Whitesell. He's a very respected coach, and he continues to oversee excellent recruiting.

I agree that they will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the MAC. I really like watching them play. Their style is more "high major" than others in the MAC.

Having said that, they aren't unbeatable. But you definitely have to come to play.

Don't question his recruiting and ability to bring in talent, but do question his X's and O's.

Easy to recall those comments about what a bad thing it was to get rid of Witherspoon. Looking back, it is probably the best thing Buffalo Athletics ever did.

The Beefs fanbase tends to agree with you.

It started when Reggie Witherspoon came on as coach. He recruited good players and they worked as a team . The nice thing they did was instead of searching for that next level coach from the outside they simply promoted within to keep a developed system alive. Nate oats was awesome. He's done the same thing at Alabama too. Current coach Jim is doing well for buffalo too. I think buffalo has an advantage over other mac teams in that buffalo is a larger city than pretty much all other mac schools. That means more tv time and market exposure. Buffalo will be a great team in the future

That and more money in the bag that attracts 5 stars.

Would be interesting to see a 5 star player come to buffalo or any other mac school. He would be the first 5 star ever to sign with a mac school most likely. Would probably a one and done, perhaps two years if buffalo were lucky

Not sure that this is an accurate statement. Also, I'm not sure when the star rating system started. But, just looking at OHIO, we'd had some guys in the past who were top tier recruits -- from the distant past there were guys like Larry Slappy, Ulice Payne, Walter (S.I. Cover guy) Luckett, Mike (I don't want to go to Ohio State) Haley, and some others. I think all of the above would have been 5-star guys if such a ranking system had existed at that time. We certainly haven't had any recently.
