I sure as hell hope so now if WKU and MTSU are on board. Maybe not right away, but eventually I could see it.

WKU beat Alabama and Memphis is basketball last season. Ohio beat defending national champs (at the time) Virginia. And don't forget MTSU's huge big dance wins over BigTen teams a few years ago.

Agree. They are both good basketball schools.

WKU made it to the Final Four once upon a time. If you look it up (1971), you'll see Vacated, where WKU should be. I don't recall the exact details, but it involved a player (the star of the team) who had had contact with an agent. I remember at the time thinking it was not an offense that deserved that harsh a penalty. I'll bet if UK had had the same issue, you wouldn't see Vacated in that slot today. In fact, UK was one of the teams WKU beat on their way to Final Four.

Jim McDaniels. That period, circa 1970-71, saw several schools that would be considered low or mid-majors today making some noise with big men. McDaniels at WKU, Bob Lanier at St. Bonaventure, and, of course, Artis Gilmore at Jacksonville.

And, one of the reasons for WKU's victory of UK was similar to one that helps explain OHIO's victory over UK in 1964 -- integrated teams playing a team run by racists. OHIO had a completely integrated starting five and WKU had an all African American starting five. When OHIO played UK in the NCAA tournament UK was lilly white. When WKU played them UK had a few token blacks.

I well remember watching those NCAA games back in 1970-73 era. I had scorebooks and kept score. I don't know whatever happened to those scorebooks. Wish I could find them.

I also made brackets on poster board for the NCAA when there were only 25 teams in and the games were just listed in the paper rather than put in brackets.

Those games with Western Kentucky, Jacksonville and UK are still available on YouTube. Also, WKU beat Ohio State in the NCAAs during that time.
