Earlier today, I bought a few tickets for the game on 11/13 at CSU. I was surprised at the amount of tickets showing as being sold on their site. The Ohio bench should be in front of 104 & 105. Is anyone else planning on attending?

There is a Bobcat Bash plus a promo code to buy discounted tickets in sections 107, 109, and 111. Have to imagine CSU tarps off the upper deck based on their ticket site.

Given our alumni base in Cleveland, it being a Saturday and our fans traveling well from all over the state; dare I say we could have more fans than they do?

Where is Fake Jeff McKinney when we need him? He seems to have gone on a long vacation to New Straitsville, where folks have been known to fall into cracks in the earth's crust.

They will be out for blood after how badly we embarrassed them last year, and how well they turned their season around pretty much right after playing us. This will be a tough one to survive.

Awesome deal. Note that the ticket purchase link actually goes to CSU's online portal, not OU's. I discovered this only after calling the Ohio ticket office to complain that my login wasn't working.

They don't draw very well. I recall going to many games there when my client was a coach at Milwaukee. One year, after Milwaukee went to the NCAA tourney and was in first place the crowd was barely 1000 people. Same when Butler would visit. I'm going to try to make it. Maybe Coach Boals will let me sing Que Sera Sera to the team for a pregame pep talk.

I think they drew better last season.

I’ve been to a few CSU games over the years. I do not remember seeing them sell the second level seats for a while. Last year they didn’t allow fans at all due to Covid.

I was more surprised at the number of seats low behind the benched already gone, but they might not be selling some of those early in the basketball season. I decided to buy some sideline seats instead of those discounted corner sections though.

Per this article by Terry Pluto on Cleveland.com…

https://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/2021/10/hoops-al...

Quote:expand_more
The last time fans were allowed in the stands, Cleveland State had an average attendance of 1,501. That was in the 2019-20 season when they finished 11-21 in the first season of coach Dennis Gates.

Some context: That average of 1,501 was the best for CSU in five seasons. Then everything changed in 2020-21.

COVID-19 wiped out fans in the stands.

Quote:expand_more
Garrett believes the Vikings would have averaged about 2,000 fans in 2020-21.

Quote:expand_more
CSU ranked No. 7 in the 10-team league. That’s why Garrett is excited about selling out the courtside seats for the first time in many years at CSU. The season-ticket base has doubled from 400 to 800.

“Our goal is average 2,500 to 3,000 fans a game this season,” said Garrett. “It has been done here before when we’ve had good teams.”

The last time CSU averaged more than 2,167 a game was in 2012

The article also mentioned they only lost one player from last year (to the portal). They have 4 super seniors and added 3 transfers (one from Florida State) to give them 16 scholarship players this year. Their leading scorer and rebounder is Torrey Patton, the former Zip. They were picked first in the Horizon preseason poll.

The 2020-21 season? Lots of friends and family, I guess.

Ha, well I guess I meant the season before. But I didn't check it before posting.

The only issue here is that they are also green.

Should we organize a blackout? A blackout at an "away" game is going to be a nightmare logistically, but if there was ever a time to do it this is it...

Outdrawing might be a stretch, but I would expect Ohio to have a pretty strong fan presence. There was a great (and very vocal) turnout for Ohio fans when these teams played at Quicken Loans Arena a few years ago (although, to be fair, the Bobcats gave us a lot more to cheer about that day than the Vikings did for their fans).

Side note: According to the CSU athletics website, masks are required at all times you aren’t actively eating or drinking, and there’s no mention of differences based on vaccination status. So, if you’re headed to Wolstein, be ready to mask up.
