Apparently the Buckeyes made it to the round of 32?

"Preston, a 21-year-old junior guard, is listed at 6’4, 187 pounds. He posted averages of 15.7 points, 7.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds during his final season as a Buckeye, shooting 51.4% from the field, 39% from three (on 4.1 attempts per game) and 59.6% from the free throw line. His team fell to the Creighton Bluejays in the second round of the NCAA Tournament back in March."
I'm not sure if this is why I don't pay for my news anymore or if it's because I do not pay for my news anymore.

In 1982 we played Richmond at Da Shoo in a game to help raise money for Children's Hospital. We won 23-14. That night one of the local Columbus sportscasters referred to us as The Bearcats. Three times!!!

The Sports Illustrated we knew died a couple years ago. Now it's just another content farm with a rapidly-fading name brand.

The average person thinks Ohio State when you tell them you went to Ohio University. I can’t tell you how many times it’s happened. They never met former President Nixon. They don’t know Dick.

Man. Just lazy....

I will also never understand random announcers, reporters, coaches, etc. adding "U" to the end of the name of only one university in the entire country... Where do they learn that?... They don't even do it for the school that is often referred to as "The U"...

I should be used to it by now but it still drives me mad....

Because for decades that is how we as a school identified ourselves. However, for 25 years we have been simply OHIO.

As an avid crossworder, last Monday's NY Times crossword (7/26) had our school as an answer. Clue was something like 'State college southeast of Columbus'. Answer was 'OHIOU'. Unfortunately, it's how we are most well known.

Is this true? I arrived in the late 1980s and recall a lot of OU gear (even to this day) but not Ohio U .....

I've gone back in forth over the years in thinking we should embrace Ohio U and also just hating it every time I hear it....

Also, can't wait for football to start so we have something real to discuss.

The average person also thinks Ohio State is a quality school and not the big farm, party school that it actually is.

Its not a bad thing to be confused with.

If you go a long, long way back you’ll see our sports team uniforms have almost always said just, Ohio. There are some back to the 1890s. There was a period of time — late 1930s-early 1960s — when we embraced the “U” tag because A&M had so successful stolen “Ohio,” but then we started to fight back during the Alden administration. We started to reclaim “Ohio,” our birthright. We were making progress slowly, but then Cowtown U overplayed it’s hand and sued us for the AttackCat logo with the arched Ohio. When their attorneys told them they were going to lose in court because that school in Athens had proof of the use of “Ohio” in reference to its university and athletic teams going back to the 19th Century, they used their political muscle to force an out-of-court settlement. Nonetheless, they were had to sign an agreement that recognized their senior institution as “Ohio.”
