I wonder where he puts the Bobcats if Preston doesn't come back. Nice to see my old neighbor and former OU assistant James Jones and the Yale Bulldogs in the top 25. He's now the second winningest coach in Ivy league history.

And kind of like calling music, physical education, and art "specials" can we drop the mid-major tag?

Gonzaga and BYU are mid majors because they're not power 5 conferences? Aren't they high majors? We should be no.1

Alan, I know some people would suspect I am getting money for repping the site, but Bart Torvik has lots of stats, tools and tidbits here: https://www.barttorvik.com /

You can actually modify rosters and recalculate the rankings which is interesting to use considering our situation with JP… If JP stays, we are projected as 34th. Without, we drop to 58th, if memory serves.

The site is free and he is very responsive to any corrections that need to be made… ie: Leaving DWIII off the roster.

Does it really matter? What was our average attendance last year, a very good year? If we can’t draw 10k a game in the newly named Larry Householder Center, with a future NBA player in a one horse town like Athens, it appears that most don’t care.

Gonzaga hasn't been a mid major in terms of budget for a while now.

Are you really referencing attendance from a year when it was essentially nonexistent or severely limited by a pandemic? I get that it fits your negative narrative really well, but c'mon.

I've tried to avoid the term "mid-major" ever since Huggins publicly pushed for one Madness for the "P"s and another for everybody else. I haven't heard much about that since Gonzaga and some others have made the final four on a regular basis.

I can't even wrap my brain around the argument. Did we just skip 2020 like attendance really mattered?

You’re right about last year. I misspoke. But what about the prior years attendance? Is it trending up or down? I would think that we should draw pretty well in Athens county for basketball and football with limited entertainment options. If people cared.

Well 2017-2019 kinda sucked, and 2020, though successful towards the end, was truly a rebuild year. It's not surprising that casual fans may want to see the team be a bit more steady-good before they decide to partake.

Going to Tuesday night MAC games has hurt attendance. High school basketball is still big in SE Ohio and Tuesday night is game night.

Agree. Fridays at 6PM are awful as well. Maybe we can expand/promote the bar and make it a happy hour destination?

Whatever money we get from TV for the MACTion football broadcasts is not worth the putrid audience turnout and rancid game day experience. Saturday afternoon for football and Wednesday's and Saturday's for hoops.
