Great half. And yet with their big man in foul trouble, they still lead at the half. It’s going to be tough, but we see they belong on the floor with a top-15 program.

BRod just can’t get it done this year so far. Half tempted to have Lundo out there rather than him

Schmock, Towns and Clayton, while ready to compete v. some opponents on the schedule, aren't ready for UK talent level

That Carter missed dunk is giving me PTSD of Jeremy Fears against Florida.

I agree with you 100%, but I don’t necessarily expect them too. For Clayton at least not yet.

Agreed and that’s no indictment on them. We’ve got three big boy players in Carter, Sears and Vander Plas. Just ride them. Give them extra rest next week.

Great first half, but if we rebounded anywhere close to BVP's threes we would be up big right now. Gotta hit the boards and put away the bunny shots.

Oscar Tshiebwe makes all the difference. Dominating us on the glass.

Clayton!

Schmock cannot be on the floor in this game. He just can’t. I’m guessing Sears is gassed, but…

We can't get just one point out of Roderick and expect to win a game like this.

not enough length, athleticism, depth - but incoming class will begin changing that

Not at all discouraged.

Sears got frustrated near the basket, but he won’t deal with that in the MAC. Vander Plas is the ultimate big-game player. Carter played well. Clayton hit a couple.

If Roderick can give us ANYTHING, we’re fine.

Up to the task on the effort, but the open shots have to go in the hole. In a way, this was kind of like the Creighton game.

We missed lots of good looks and they made shots that current wisdom says are bad looks. Those mid range shots kept UK in the game until they could make their run.

Ohio was outrebounded 53-17. That's more than 3 to 1. We were missing Wilson's physicality badly. Rebounding issues is what a lot of us expected but I don't think anyone expected that.

We lost our legs late in the game. Some were talking about how we don't miss Peeston as much as a lot of people not in the know on Ohio basketball expected because we have one of the best PGs in the MAC in Sears. But in a game like this having 9 or 10 guys to rotate instead of 7 or 8 would have helped the legs. We thought during the summer we might have Preston and Wilson along with the rest of anyone important from last year's team plus Carter and Clayton. We would be much more able to contest a game like this if that were the case. We don't have the depth to make another March run without a lot of luck.

I thought this exact thing. Felt like Creighton except we lasted longer tonight. B-Rod not up to task. No DW3. Schmock scared -- and still in it until 12 mins left. All I thought was : can Elmore James play tonight! Missing physical perimeter D.

4 points from the Roderick, Schmock, McDay trio. Just brutal vs. this type of competition. One a grad transfer, the other two in their third year in this program.

Exactly, well put. Great effort but in some ways a little humbling for Carter and Sears, which may be a good thing. It will help them up their game. Not sure what has become of Roderick's game. We also have to address our rebounding, we may get away with it in MAC play, but it will bite us in the tournment like it did tonight unless we get a handle on it. However, all in all we are well positioned for MAC play.

This is the game that we will miss Dwight the most. Last year, he was able to play Cockburn well, limiting (Yeah, I said limiting) him to 13 pts and 14 boards. Tshiebwe is a beast and we don't have anyone to challenge him down low... Offensively, we can drag him out to the perimeter if JC is shooting 3's but defensively, he will be next to impossible to counter. It's going to take some excellent 3 pt shooting by the Bobcats and we have to hope the opposite happens to them. Not impossible, but not likely either. I just hope we play them tough and try not to get blown out so that the computer ranking numbers don't crush us.
I also think this is a great experience for the team to play in a big time environment. I hope it helps us in March...

GO BOBCATS!
Fully agree. Getting a chance to compete with Kentucky at Rupp is going to be a great experience.

A friend of mine, now deceased, played at Georgia Tech in the early 50s. He loved to relate how his Yellow Jackets went into Rupp Arena as underdogs and came out a winner. His joy in that accomplishment never diminished.
That would have been a good trick Mike since Rupp didn't open until 1976.
Nope they were in Alumni Gym where I spent a good portion of the first 2 years of my life. Still stop and visit there when I need to talk to my Pops. I am sure that is where his spirit rests.

Roderick needs to wake up. Very disappointing play so far. I think Boals should consider benching him to see if that will wake him up.

Schmock will be fine in MAC, but not ready for a stage like tonight.

Missed dunk was a killer and fatigue clearly set in.

Oscar doesn’t play first half and we had to be up at least 8 at the half with that gift. Texted a buddy and said I’m afraid we are going to lose by 17 with Oscar playing entire second half.

Bottom line…glad we played the game.

Bring on the next opponent.
