When they snubbed UNA and then couldn't get Lipscomb...

Now... will Murray bolt next or stay for the automatic big dance bid? Or will the NCAA revoke the OVC's auto bid? And will the new UT-South (Pulaski TN - formerly Martin Methodist College) move up to D-1 in basketball and join the OVC if it survives? Alabama A&M (Huntsville) is in the OVC footprint...will the OVC drop the ball on that too? Probably.

I'm not saying that I could do a better job running the OVC, but I'm not NOT saying it either.

What I think is unfortunate is that the OVC really is (was?) a good basketball conference. Such is the way of things in the 21st century. Football and greed ruins another basketball conference.

OVC really hasn't been good in basketball for a long time. The top two or three teams are generally good, but it's been atrocious if you go below that. Back in the day, though, it was a good leag7e.

Is it a coincidence that some the OVC's best years were when WKU and MTSU were members? And of course when NYC playground legend James "Fly" Williams was at APSU.

No coincidence. Those were the glory years for the OVC.

They always had a reputation of having some outlaw schools on academics.

And there were also about half the number of D1 programs that there are now.

What's even crazier about this is that EKU really wants to move up to the FBS in football, so they may end up getting targeted by the Sun Belt.

With Cincinnati and Houston gone in basketball, I wonder if Wichita State is now kicking themselves for leaving the MVC. Belmont adds instant value to that basketball product.

Belmont will also benefit because people in the Midwest LOVE to visit Nashville. When Kansas State played at Vandy in football (2017) they brought around 20,000 fans. Shortly after Mizzou joined the SEC, they had a game at Vandy the same weekend that the Kansas City Chiefs played at the Titans. Tons of people from Missouri and Kansas in town that went to both games.
