Very similar to Athlon (see previous thread) in their MAC predictions.

Buffalo picked first.

BVP first team. Wilson second team.

Lindys spent half the writeup on Ohio on Carter. They just didn't have him on first or second team all MAC.

I get the feeling Dwight Wilson is going to dominate this year and make either first or second team.

Are any locals, or those with sources in the Convo, hearing of any injuries this pre-season?

DW3 was a monster last year and I applaud him for all that he did. He basically was our lone post player with Granger giving him a few minutes per game off. You could see it wore on him by late season but still performed well. With Carter rotating in and I am sure more time for Granger/Ezuma, I think he can find his sweet spot around 28 minutes per game and really make a concerted effort to establish the low post during that time. BVP will also be more rested with JC back in action.

I will say Wilson may struggle to see the floor early on in the season.

What am I missing about Wilson? Might struggle to see the floor early in the season? Unless there is an undisclosed injury, how is this even possible?

IF there is an injury (and I'm not saying there is), of course it's undisclosed right now.

Blue Ribbon also picks us 2nd behind Buffalo.

No mention of anything going on with Wilson and they are typically on top of things.

Also Boals on Jason Carter, "...he's really going to be like a utility infielder."

Can someone translate this coach speak for me? I don't understand the analogy of a baseball utility infielder and the game of basketball. Does this mean he's going to play both forward and center?

He could play a number of spots depending on the opponent or the game situation. There might be times when he is the five, but there were times a few years ago where he was the three with BVP and Taylor on the floor.

I bought the Blue Ribbon digital preview. Of the newcomers or guys that weren't regulars in the rotation last year, coach sounds high on Shmock and thinks Towns can make a big jump. I didn't know Schmock is Findlay's all-time assists leader. Reading between the lines, it sounds like Adelodun might not see much time as Covid shut down prep basketball in Canada and he hasn't played since early 2020.

Here is the full quote:

"After my press conference, I met with him and we talked. Basically I said, 'Hey look. We're going to win here if you're here or not. I want to coach you, but I want you to have two feet in. If you have one foot in and one foot out, then leave.'

With what we have coming back, his skill set, the way he can play, his size, the positions he can guard, he's really going to be like a utility infielder. He'll play multiple positions and do different things for us. To have a guy with his experience, you don't really get that too often. The fact that he's been here before and knows this place and has a comfort level here, I think he's really going to help us."

Boals just seems to press all the right buttons....even with the original discussion with Carter.

Very excited to see Carter and BVP reunited. Having two inside-out bigs will make us a nightmare to matchup with.

If we are flying under the radar, we will be dramatically altering the gambling odds!

This will be a very good team! Loss of Preston significant, but not dispositive with Sears, Brown , and Lundy!

I am going to enjoy the coming season!!

As long as Whitesell is leading the program Buffalo is not a threat to win the conference.
