Great game last night from the Cats. Defense was incredible. When both teams were warming up, I thought we might be in trouble. Marshall looked long and much more athletic than us, but I think our fundamentals were much more solid.

BVP was doubled a lot last night, so that lead to his low numbers. I'm not so sure he's feeling 100% out on the floor also. Wonder if that is playing in to anything?

I think BRod is just in his own head as far as shooting goes. Nothing looks fluid right now. You can tell he's pressing on every shot he takes. Just needs one good game to snap out of it.

Totally agree with Ruck and Boyd. My take is that Marshall aimed to shut BVP down and they succeeded. As Boals said in the presser “they’re a good team”. Sears is an amazing player. I still love Carter’s game. And although BRod is struggling from 3 his defense, rebounding etc is all there. I support Boals keeping him in the starting 5. He’ll figure it out. I love watching this team play. Go Bobcats!

Holy cow. If Marshall had any game tonight...we lose badly. But you have to win games like that if you want to pull off something special during the year. 22 turnovers and 22 made free throws. That's the game. Put the "W" in the back pocket and quietly move to the next game.

Until Brod starts making 3's, teams are going to sag on BVP and it's going to be tough sledding for 5. With all that said, we have a chance to be 9-2 in non-con with two games we should win to start conference play before Akron.

Go Bobcats.

PS Was confused why Izuma did not get a minute in the second half. Also, it appears Boals likes to go with Tommy in crunch time over Miles in the four minutes. I'm seeing that trend develop. Not sure about that one.
Ever think that the reason Marshall didn’t have any game tonight had something to do with OHIO?
Ohio had something to do with that for sure. But how many times is Marshall's back-court going to go 8-32 from the field and commit 22 turnovers? We also got some luck there. I'm happy as anyone with a "W" tonight, but the Herd backcourt couldn't make a basket. And of course, defense had something to do with it.

Have to side with Billy here. Most of those turnovers were caused by the quick hands and feet of Ohio.

We aren't playing our best ball, but this team is still finding a way to win. Just wait till they start clicking on all cylinders.
+1. In addition to the impressive overall team defense, I noticed several one-on-one situations when the Marshall player would make a spin move on the defender and, afterward, when they got to the spot where they might normally be able to drive past a player, his defender was squared away and right in their face when they got there. I think that frustrated Marshall players in a couple of situations, some leading to turnovers. I saw, in particular, both Brown and Schmock doing this defensively. Pretty sure there were others. My thoughts at the time were this is not just effort but also scouting (identifying tendencies) and preparation (coaching).

Definitely agree Roderick had a better game outside of the continued struggles from 3. Would have liked to see IJ get a few more minutes as well as Sam Towns. He played well.

Also, I’ve never been to a game against Marshall where the majority of their fans were as quiet as they were last night (with the exception of the second half of that 44-7 mauling in football). Had a decent amount of them near me and heard almost nothing but a few frustrated mutters.

Rumor has it that D'Antoni was throwing some shade on the scorers table during the last part of the game. Anyone close enough to verify it?

I do think the officiating went our way more than it didn't. There were 2-3 call that completely bailed us out including the one that induced the technical.

This game further proves in my mind that this team's greatest strength is our defense.

Every time I see BVP play I come away even more impressed. He had a bad shooting night but he brings so much more to the table. As just one of several examples, he threw a beautiful backdoor pass to Sam Towns, which Towns fumbled out of bounds. BVP slapped hands with Towns after the play and, later seeing that Towns was down on himself, patted him on the back. Great teammate.

That maybe why D’Antoni told the scorers table that those “refs must be your daddy”. He did not like the response he received from the table.

C’mon Billy. Don’t leave us hanging. What was the response he received? Don’t even need to know who it was at the table. Inquiring minds want to know. ;)
