Make a call to the 26-40 teams: Like Butler, Marquette, St. Bonaventure, Dayton, St. Mary's (Cal.), Missouri, San Diego State ...

and bad teams in good leagues: Temple, St. Joe's, Boston College, Northwestern, Nebraska, Oregon State.

I love Boals mentality and philosophy with twitter and how he embraces it. Recruits love this stuff and so do the fans.

Is it possible some of these Top 25 teams that Boals has reached out to are waiting to see if Preston is on the roster next season?

I dig how he uses Twitter as well. But I have to ask, what leads you to say "Recruits love this stuff"?

They love a coach who is recruiting them who is active on Twitter. I’m not saying everyone will love this tweet as a recruit…although …I’m not sure why they wouldn’t. But that was a general statement
that recruits love when their potential head coach has a personality on Twitter. Does it lock up a recruit...no....but it doesn’t hurt.

Now that top-25 teams know Preston is not on the roster...I have to believe it might be a little easier now to get a game or two against the big boys?

How about a Western Kentucky/Belmont/UniversityOfMemphis road swing?

It's all interstate once you get to Parkersburg.

Why would you go to Parkersburg to drive to any of those schools?

Athens to Bowling Green, Kentucky is actually easier that way compared to the drudgery of taking the Appalachian Hwy to Cincy. (And avoid potential traffic disasters in Cincinnati/Louisville) Plus, one time I was going from Nashville to Athens via Cincy and there was a rockslide on the Appy Hwy that forced us to go through Wellston and McArthur to get to Athens. The delay was big.

Unless one wanted to stop in Piketon to see where that drug dealing family was mass murdered that time.

I don't know. Garrison Mathews is gone to the NBA and their coach left to take the Belmont job up the street. They had their 15 minutes but it's over.

It's taking Brian Collins a while to rebuild TSU but he just got the son of a famous (?) rapper (Master P.??) to commit and the kid got a massive NIL deal. Not sure if this will jump-start anything over there because it's in a bad part of town and nobody goes to the games. Even with Eddie George as the new football coach, I'm not sold on them gaining much traction in football either.

I'm assuming that the Parkersburg route would involve cutting across on I-64 through Lexington and Huntington? Sorry you had a couple bad experiences on the App, but I still prefer that route thru Cincinnati and Louisville.

Will be interesting to see if Lipscomb can keep it going.

Lipscomb? Doubtful. Bellarmine on the other hands in the suburbs of basketball crazy Louisville could be on to something. Like the next Belmont. And in Louisville they are not competing with an NFL and an NHL team for attention. Just U of L. Lipscomb basketball plays 6th fiddle behind pro sports, Vandy, Belmont, etc for media attention. They get almost none. But it's in a nice area and has a beautiful campus.

If you want to get to BG and avoid Cincy and Louisville, go through Lexington. Shorter drive mileage wise and much prettier drive. I agree with Billy - go east to go SW just doesn't make since.

I disagree.  I think there are more coaches that agree with the Texas HC than agree with Huggy Bear:

Other coaches within the league, however, said they hope the NCAA tournament format remains the same. Texas coach Chris Beard has coached at the junior college and mid-major levels during his career. He said the diversity within the tournament is what makes it special.

"I'm one of these guys that I don't think anything's wrong with the NCAA tournament," said Beard, who led Arkansas-Little Rock to the second round in 2016. "I thought 64 [teams] was fine. It's just, why are we trying to fix something that ain't broke? It's the best three weeks in sports. And I feel like I can talk about it because I've been on all ends of it."

Also, as much as I like basketball, football is much more popular in the U.S., save for the NCAA tournament, which gets more eyes and hearts into college basketball than thing else.  It would be stupid to kill the golden goose.  A tournament with just the "name schools" woudl not have nearly the viewership as the current format, IMHO.

Maybe it would still do well, but I would personally have no interest in the tourney without the Cinderella stories. None.

You are probably correct overall but I'd be interested to see what the numbers are in the money conferences.

Maybe I'm not the perfect example, but I can hardly remember who made the championship game from year to year or who the final four members were. However, I loved watching the back-to-back runs to the championship game by Butler and can still see that three point heave just missing against Duke. I remember when George Mason made it to the Final Four. And the Loyola Chicago run was a blast a couple of years ago. Again, maybe I'm the exception, but those years and those teams resonate with me more so than any UNC, Kansas, or Kentucky team.
